00:00We're pointing out Houston, Dallas, some of these cities because you actually haven't hit triple digits yet this year.
00:06And usually by this point, you have.
00:08Some of you by July 1st like Dallas, others by July 19th like Houston.
00:12But again, either way, hot is hot and it is definitely hot right now.
00:17At this time of the year, I'm not even really paying attention to those air temperatures.
00:20It's the AccuWeather, RealFeel temperatures that I care about personally because that's what it actually feels like outside.
00:25And somewhere like Dallas tomorrow, we are in the feels like 105 to 110 range.
00:31A little bit farther to the east, somewhere like Little Rock, 110 to 115.
00:35That's your AccuWeather, RealFeel temperature.
00:37Dangerous heat, right?
00:38You want to be taking those precautions against heat-related illness.
00:41And a quick reminder, some of the impacts here, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, you need to be looking for those symptoms.
00:47But of course, there's other impacts too.
00:49And the pets, keep in mind the pets.
00:51Make sure you're taking them on walks first thing in the morning before it's too hot.
00:54Because their paws are very sensitive and the sidewalk can get very hot very quickly.
00:59Now we look ahead to Friday, sweltering.
01:02That is a word I don't want to see on the map, especially this time of year.
01:05This just does not look good.
01:06And unfortunately, it's just not great.
01:08It's more of the dangerous heat.
01:10We're stuck with this for not just a day or two, but really at least into next week.
01:15Again, somewhere like Little Rock in the feels like 110 to 115 range.
01:18But even if you're in the 95 to 100 range, that is still the kind of heat that you need to be paying attention to.
01:24So you need to be limiting your time outside, especially anyone that's in sensitive groups.
01:28We look ahead to the weekend.
01:30Some good news.
01:31We've got to take the small winds, right?
01:32110 to 115, that darkest red shaded area, it's a little bit of a smaller area.
01:38Not as many of us.
01:39But Little Rock, I mean, you're just stuck in that range for a couple of days here.
01:43So I hope you can get in the air conditioning as much as possible.
01:46Let's take you to Washington, D.C. now, because you might have noticed on this last map I showed you, the heat, it is spreading its way north.
01:53But right now, D.C., 85 degrees.
01:56Sounds good to me.
01:57That's right.
01:57Today was the last nice quote-unquote day here across the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast because the heat, it is moving in.
02:04We are going to be tracking a heat dome that is going to intensify and expand.
02:08And this expansion is going to pull up much hotter air and much more humidity across this region.
02:14So not only are the air temperatures going to climb, the AccuWeather Reefield temperatures will climb as well.
02:19We will see some areas here across parts of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic coastal areas climbing and seeing AccuWeather Reefield temperatures climbing up to about 100 degrees.
02:27But look what happens as we head into Friday.
02:29The heat is actually going to expand here across this region, covering more space, but also very much intensifying here across the East Coast.
02:37You can see from Baltimore to Washington down through Richmond and Virginia Beach, that's where we're going to see those AccuWeather Reefield temperatures well into that 105 to 110 range as we head into Friday.
02:48And then as we head into Saturday, we're still going to be tracking that dangerous heat across the East Coast.
02:52But some of the heat to the north will slowly recede and retreat here as we head throughout Saturday.
02:58Friday, we're tracking another risk of shower storms and severe weather.
03:01Now, once again, this is Friday's forecast, not tomorrow.
03:04So Thursday, there could be some rain chances around, but overall it looks like it's going to stay clear.
03:09Friday is going to be when we see that next chance potential of severe weather.
03:14But in addition to the severe weather heading into the weekend, Saturday, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening,
03:19widespread showers and storms here across parts from the Midwest all the way to the Mid-Atlantic.
03:24And this is where we could see that flooding potential in the forecast.
03:27But then as we head into the weekend, there will be some relief for some areas here.
03:34New York and parts of New England, we're going to see a significant cool down because of a dip in the jet stream.
03:38But that dip, that front, is not going to make it all the way to the south.
03:42So if you're across the Mid-Atlantic coast, across the Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley,
03:47yeah, it's still going to be plenty hot here as we head throughout the weekend.
03:50So here's the overall setup of what we are tracking on Thursday.
03:52Hot and humid conditions will continue to dominate the forecast as that heat starts to move in.
03:57And you can see that stripe of heat working its way from St. Louis to Detroit.
04:02Look at that, 100 for St. Louis, 96 degrees in Detroit.
04:06So it's going to be a hot forecast on Thursday.
04:08Friday, you can see that storm or that cold front to the north.
04:11That's what's going to kick off that chance of showers and storms across the region.
04:15But it's still going to be sweltering off to the south.
