00:00Interpol is what we describe as a coordinating, collaborating, networking, global system for policing.
00:11And Interpol system is very robust and things like these do not happen by accident with Interpol.
00:22Yesterday morning, former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley,
00:26called a news conference at his home where he claimed that he was on Interpol's watch list
00:31and demanded answers from the authorities, specifically from Prime Minister Kamala Poussard, Bicessa and Commission of Police.
00:40Speaking on TV6 Morning Edition, former Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams says
00:44there are certain steps that need to be followed before someone's name can be placed on Interpol's watch list.
00:51I can tell you that the head of the National Central Bureau, which we refer to as the NCB, is the Commissioner of Police.
01:01And the Commissioner of Police is supported by a unit.
01:05And that unit has what we refer to as a laser officer, a senior officer, sometimes a sergeant, inspector,
01:16who is the laser officer who works with the Commissioner of Police with Interpol.
01:20He says he is not disputing the former Prime Minister's claims.
01:24But if the Top Cup says Dr. Rowley's name is not on any watch list, then there must be some truth to it,
01:30as the Commissioner of Police is the only person who has the authority to verify any linkage to the former Prime Minister's claim.
01:37I would not question what would have been Dr. Rowley's experience down in Antigua.
01:47So I wasn't there. I can't question that.
01:51But I'm saying if we are dealing with Interpol and Interpol watch lists and the submissions from Trinidad and Tobago,
01:58it has to do with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
02:03Charlotte Kisto, TV6 News.
02:07The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
