Transcript
00:00Today is the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene called the Apostle to the Apostles in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
00:28Peace be with you. Remember our sins. Remember God's compassion. You forgive our sins. Lord, have mercy. You call us away from confusion into love. Christ, have mercy. You fill us with your Holy Spirit who makes all things new for us. Lord, have mercy.
00:50May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:58Today we pray the Gloria, because it's a feast. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of goodwill. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you.
01:11We give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world.
01:26Lord, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world. Receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father. Have mercy on us.
01:36For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
01:47Let us pray.
01:53O God, whose only begotten Son entrusted Mary Magdalene before all others with announcing the great joy of the resurrection, grant we pray that through her intercession and example we may proclaim the living Christ and come to see him reigning in your glory, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
02:17A reading from the song of songs.
02:21The bride says, on my bed at night I sought him, whom my heart loves. I sought but did not find him. So I will rise and go through the city, in the streets and the squares.
02:36I will seek him, whom my heart loves. I will seek him, whom my heart loves. I sought but did not find him.
02:44The watchmen came upon me, on their rounds in the city. Have you seen him, whom my heart loves?
02:53Scarcely had I passed him, than I found him, whom my heart loves.
02:58The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
03:04My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
03:13My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
03:18O God, you are my God, for you I long, for you my soul is thirsting.
03:22My body pines for you like a dry weary land without water.
03:26My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
03:30So I gaze on you in the sanctuary, to see your strength and your glory.
03:34For your love is better than life. My lips will speak your praise.
03:39My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
03:42So I will bless you all my life. In your name I lift up my hands.
03:47My soul shall be filled as with a banquet.
03:50My mouth shall praise you with joy.
03:52My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
03:56For you have been my help. In the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
04:00My soul clings to you. Your right hand holds me fast.
04:04My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord, my God.
04:09Alleluia, alleluia. Tell us, Mary, what did you see on the way?
04:14I saw the glory of the risen Christ. I saw his empty tomb.
04:17Alleluia.
04:20The Lord be with you.
04:22A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
04:25Glory to you, O Lord.
04:27It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark
04:32when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb.
04:36She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb
04:39and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple,
04:43the one Jesus loved.
04:45They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, she said,
04:47and we don't know where they have put him.
04:49Mary stayed outside near the tomb, weeping.
04:54Then, still weeping, she stood to look inside
04:58and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been,
05:04one at the head, the other at the feet.
05:07They said,
05:08Woman, why are you weeping?
05:11They have taken my Lord away, she replied.
05:13I don't know, and I don't know where they have put him.
05:17As she said this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there,
05:22though she did not recognize him.
05:24Jesus said,
05:25Woman, why are you weeping?
05:27Who are you looking for?
05:29Supposing him to be the gardener, she said,
05:32Said,
05:33If you have taken him away,
05:35tell me where you have put him,
05:37and I will go and remove him.
05:39Jesus said,
05:40Mary.
05:41She knew him then,
05:43and said to him in Hebrew,
05:44Rabbuni,
05:45which means master.
05:47Jesus said to her,
05:49Do not cling to me,
05:50because I have not yet ascended to my father,
05:53but go and find the brothers,
05:55and tell them,
05:56I am ascending to my father and your father,
05:59to my God and your God.
06:01So Mary of Magdala went,
06:03and told the disciples,
06:05that she had seen the Lord,
06:07and that he had said these things to her.
06:12The Gospel of the Lord.
06:14Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
06:22She had been forgiven much,
06:24and loved much.
06:27She is the one that Jesus appeared to first,
06:31and she knew him,
06:33when he called her by name.
06:35He loved them all,
06:38but loved each one,
06:40by name.
06:41He loves us all,
06:42but he loves you,
06:44by name.
06:45And like Mary Magdala,
06:47knowing how much we are loved,
06:48we are freed to proclaim Jesus is risen,
06:53not just to do what we've always done,
06:56but to do what is right,
06:59to let God guide us to do what is right,
07:02and what is according to the Gospel,
07:06according to the will of God in our lives.
07:08Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
07:16for to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
07:19which earth has given who the human hands have made,
07:22it will become for us the bread of life.
07:24Blessed be God forever.
07:26Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
07:51for to your goodness we have this wine to offer,
07:54fruit of divine work of human hands,
07:56it will become a spiritual drink.
07:58Blessed be God forever.
07:59Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
08:13that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
08:16our Almighty Father.
08:18May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands,
08:21with the praise and glory of God's name,
08:23for our good and the good of God's holy Church.
08:27Accept, O Lord, the offerings presented in communion,
08:29in commemoration of St. Mary Magdalene,
08:32whose homage of charity was graciously accepted
08:35by your only begotten Son,
08:37who lives and reigns forever and ever.
08:40Amen.
08:42Today we pray the preface of the Apostles,
08:46because she is an apostle to the apostles,
08:50the one who told them first of the resurrection.
08:54The Lord be with you.
08:56Lift up your hearts.
08:57Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
09:00It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation,
09:04always and everywhere,
09:05to give you thanks,
09:06Lord, Holy Father,
09:07Almighty and eternal God.
09:10For you, eternal shepherd,
09:11do not desert your flock,
09:13but through the blessed apostles,
09:15watch over it and protect it always,
09:18so that it may be governed by those who have,
09:21you have appointed shepherds,
09:22to lead it in the name of your Son.
09:25And so, with angels and archangels,
09:27with thrones and dominions,
09:29and with all the hosts and powers of heaven,
09:32we sing the hymn of your glory,
09:33as without end we acclaim.
09:36Holy, holy,
09:37holy Lord,
09:38God of hosts,
09:39heaven and earth are full of your glory.
09:42Hosanna in the highest.
09:44Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
09:47Hosanna in the highest.
09:48You are indeed holy, O Lord,
09:51the fount of all holiness.
09:53Make holy, therefore,
09:54these gifts, we pray,
09:55by sending down your Spirit upon them,
09:57like the dewfall,
09:58so that they may become for us
10:00the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:03At the time he was betrayed
10:04and entered willingly into his passion,
10:07he took bread,
10:09and giving thanks,
10:10broke it,
10:11and gave it to his disciples,
10:12saying,
10:13Take this, all of you,
10:14and eat of it,
10:15for this is my body,
10:17which will be given up for you.
10:26In a similar way,
10:27when supper was ended,
10:28he took the chalice,
10:30and once more giving thanks,
10:32he gave it to his disciples,
10:33saying,
10:34Take this, all of you,
10:35and drink from it,
10:36for this is the chalice of my blood,
10:39the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
10:41which will be pulled out for you,
10:43and for many,
10:45for the forgiveness of sins.
10:47Do this in memory of me.
10:56The mystery of faith.
10:59Save us, Savior of the world,
11:01for by your cross and resurrection,
11:03you have set us free.
11:05Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
11:12we offer you, Lord,
11:13the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
11:16giving thanks that you've held us worthy
11:18to be in your presence and minister to you.
11:22Humbly, we pray,
11:23that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
11:26we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
11:29Remember, Lord, your church,
11:31spread throughout the world,
11:32and bring her to the fullness of charity,
11:35together with Leo, our Pope,
11:37me, your worthy servant,
11:40and all the clergy.
11:42Remember also our brothers and sisters
11:44who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
11:47and all who have died in your mercy.
11:50Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:53Have mercy on us all, we pray,
11:55that with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
11:56Mother of God,
11:58Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
11:59with the blessed apostles,
12:01and all the saints
12:02who have pleased you throughout the ages,
12:05we may, through your grace,
12:06merit to be coerced to eternal life,
12:09and may praise and glorify you,
12:12through your Son, Jesus Christ.
12:13Through him, and with him, and in him,
12:18O God, Almighty Father,
12:20in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
12:22all glory and honor is yours,
12:24forever and ever.
12:26Amen.
12:26At the Spirit's command and form a divine teaching,
12:32we dare to say,
12:33Our Father, who art in heaven,
12:36hallowed be thy name,
12:38thy kingdom come,
12:39thy will be done on earth,
12:41as it is in heaven.
12:42Give us this day our daily bread,
12:45and forgive us our trespasses,
12:47as we forgive those who trespass against us,
12:50and lead us not into temptation,
12:53but deliver us from evil.
12:55Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
12:56from every evil.
12:58Preciously grant peace in our days,
13:00that by the help of your mercy,
13:02we may be always free from sin,
13:05and safe from all distress,
13:06as we await the blessed hope,
13:08and the coming of our Saviour,
13:10Jesus Christ.
13:11For the kingdom,
13:12the power,
13:13and the glory are yours,
13:15now and forever.
13:17Lord Jesus Christ,
13:18who said to your apostles,
13:19Peace I leave you,
13:20my peace I give you,
13:22look not on our sins,
13:23but on the faith of your church,
13:25and graciously grant her peace and unity,
13:27in accordance with your will,
13:29who live and reign forever and ever.
13:31Amen.
13:33The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ
13:34be with you always.
13:37Let us offer each other a sign of the peace
13:39that Jesus gives us.
13:40Peace be with you all.

14:11who takes away the sins of the world,

14:15to the supper of the Lamb.
14:17Lord,
14:17I am not worthy

14:20but only say the word,
14:21and my soul shall be healed.

14:26I believe that you are present
14:28in the most blessed sacrament.

14:32and I desire to receive you
14:33into my soul.
14:35Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
14:38commonly,
14:39spiritually,
14:39into my heart.
14:41I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:43and unite myself wholly to you.
