00:22Today, I will tell you the story of Alibaba and the Forty Thieves.
00:27Once upon a time, in a town in Perusia, there lived two brothers, one named Qasim and the other Alibaba.
00:37Their father left them no great property.
00:41Though he had divided it equally between them, their fortune stood up in equal, but it was otherwise.
00:48Qasim married a widow who, soon after their marriage, became harris of a large estate and a good shop and a warehouse full of rich merchandise,
01:01so that all at once he became one of the richest merchants and lived at his ease.
01:07Alibaba, on the other hand, lived in a very mean dwelling and had no other means of maintaining himself
01:16other than his daily labor in cutting wood in a forest near the town and bringing it upon three asses to town to sell.
01:27One day, Alibaba was in the forest when he saw forty thieves stop in front of a cave.
01:36The leader said,
01:37Open Sesame!
01:39And before Alibaba's amazed eyes,
01:43the sealed mouth of the cave magically opened and the men disappeared inside.
01:49To come out and close the entrance, the leader said,
01:54Close Sesame!
01:56And the cave sealed itself once more.
02:00Trembling with excitement, Alibaba waited till the thieves had left and then entered the cave.
02:08After saying the magic words, to his delight, he found lots of treasure.
02:14Alibaba told his brother Qasim about the wondrous cave.
02:19Qasim set off to get some treasure for himself, too.
02:24Sadly, he forgot the words to leave the cave, and the thieves killed him.
02:30Alibaba discovered his brother's body in a cave.
02:34With the help of a servant girl called Morgina,
02:38he was able to take Qasim's body back home and bury it.
02:43Realizing that someone else knew about their cave,
02:48the thieves tracked Alibaba down.
02:51The leader, disguised as an oil seller, stayed with Alibaba.
02:56He had brought along mules loaded with 40 oil jars containing the other thieves.
03:04Clever Morgina knew who the oil seller really was and poured boiling oil into the jars,
03:12killing the other thieves.
03:14While dancing in front of the leader of the thieves,
03:18Morgina stabbed him.
03:19Alibaba was saved and loved happily with Morgina ever after.
