00:00The seventh and penultimate stage of Geri d'Italia women for 2025 and it was the big one the Queen
00:14stage taking the riders over fully 150 kilometers with 3,610 meters of climbing along the way.
00:22Stage entirely in the Marque region taking the riders from Fermignano to the daunting
00:28ascent of Monte Noronni at the end of a long hard day and Marlon Roycer controlling an
00:35advantage of 16 seconds in general classification into this big mountain
00:40appointment over Elisa Longo Borghini. 131 riders still available for duty
00:46representing the 22 teams and as the flag fell to announce the start of the day
00:52there were plenty of attacks in the early moments. Eventually Vesua Ostolase,
00:58Shirin van Anruyt joining up with the early attacker Minkie Geertz out front with
01:04Celia Geri of the FTJ Suez squad pursuing. Eventually she would be dragged back into
01:11the main peloton. Pursuing the trio up front maximum lead for the three riders of
01:19over six minutes at one stage. Geri got to within just a smidgen over two minutes but
01:26unfortunately for her her time out front didn't coincide with joining up with the
01:31brake. Meanwhile Shirin van Anruyt showing herself to be the strongest rider in the
01:37side of the track. Opening up a little bit of daylight on a technical descent and then
01:44pressing on for glory as the final climbs approached. Four classified climbs along the
01:51way and plenty of other climbs that could equally have got that designation and it was
01:55on one of the descents that Elisa Longo Borghini found herself clear of Marlon Roycer with
02:02a narrow advantage in the company of her teammate Silvia Persico and Longo Borghini
02:07deciding that this was worth pursuing so she pushed on. Leanne Lippert there for the
02:15Movistar squad defending the interests of her teammate and race leader Marlon Roycer.
02:20But Longo Borghini and Persico continuing to open up a significant amount of daylight.
02:27Persico after her efforts grinding to a halt and leaving it up to Elisa Longo Borghini
02:34to plough on alone onto the Monte Narone climb with dreams of overall success.
02:41the reigning champion looking to overhaul that 16 second deficit and all the signals looking very
02:51encouraging indeed throughout the 14.8 kilometer assault on Monte Narone. Up front Shirin van Anruy, a brave bid for the Lidl track rider.
03:01She would wilt on the unyielding slopes of Monte Narone as the stage four winner.
03:09Sara Gigante launching from the Marlon Roycer group and trying to close up to the flying Elisa Longo Borghini
03:19who joined up with Shirin van Anruy to lead the stage. Elisa Longo Borghini pressing on alone, continuing to open up an advantage over Marlon Roycer.
03:29Sara Gigante closed down to the erstwhile race leader Shirin van Anruy and then very shortly was on terms with Elisa Longo Borghini behind Marlon Roycer.
03:43Not yet able to react as the 8% gradients of the second half of the 15 kilometer climb really started to challenge the riders.
03:56Elisa Longo Borghini finding that she couldn't follow the pace of Sara Gigante.
04:03Elisa Longo Borghini finding that she couldn't follow the pace of Sara Gigante.
04:05Elisa Longo Borghini in flying form whenever the road rises looking to back up her stage four victory.
04:11Meanwhile concerning moments for Marlon Roycer. She slipped over 50 seconds behind Elisa Longo Borghini.
04:22Elisa Longo Borghini continued to tap out a steady rhythm on the Monte Neroni climb looking to recover the Magliarosa.
04:31Gigante flying to a second stage success. Elisa Longo Borghini with a bigger ambition.
04:41The Magliarosa. Gigante into the final moments and her advantage north of 30 seconds.
04:50over Elisa Longo Borghini. A 24 year old Melburnian across the line and trying to take as much time as possible.
05:02She would vault up from sixth to third overall at the end of another stunning day of climbing from the young Australian.
05:11Meanwhile Longo Borghini continuing to fight all the way to the line to take second on the day and then the clock would start to tick.
05:20With Marlon Roycer her 16 seconds advantage evaporating.
05:26Home grand from Lidltrek gets up for third and takes the bonus seconds.
05:32Marlon Roycer fourth on the day but more than 20 seconds behind Elisa Longo Borghini and stepping out of the Magliarosa as a result.
05:41Disappointment for the Swiss rider. Glory for Sarah Gigante and for Elisa Longo Borghini.
05:47Home grand third for Lidltrek. Second day in succession for them recording that position and Longo Borghini now with a 22 second advantage over Roycer into the final day of racing.
05:59Antonia Niedermeyer still in the white jersey and up to fifth overall.
06:06And Ostalase from the breakaway taking over the lead of the mountains classification from Sarah Gigante.
06:14Lorena Uibis recording some points early on in the day remains in the lead of the points classification.
