00:06but we start stage 2 highlights with the dramatic news that reached us just after the finish yesterday
00:12that Lorena Vibis had been disqualified from the race due to a UCI bike regulation being reportedly broken
00:18so we started stage 2 with Elisa Balsamo yesterday's second place finisher across the line
00:23as the official stage 1 winner and the first Malia Rosa of this year's race
00:29it's not how she'd have wanted it, she said that herself
00:31but there she was heading out to start stage 2 in the Veneto from Roncade
00:38riding in the direction of Carole
00:42a 156km stage, slightly longer than yesterday and the first categorised climb too
00:46so an opportunity for either the breakaway or the peloton to take the first Queen of the Mountains points
00:52a fourth category climb that came after just 46km
00:57so a battle to get into that breakaway
01:00leaving us with 3 riders out front, 3 Italians again and the same teams as yesterday as well

01:24it was Eleonora Labella who took the Queen of the Mountains at Muro del Poggio
01:33and Sarah Luchon had taken the intermediate sprint for the Malia Rosa as well
01:39the red jersey that on this day was being worn by Lares Gillespie
01:43well inside the final 20k and our three breakaway riders were looking like they were going to be caught
01:48and that is exactly what happened on the flat, fast run in to the finish
01:53and an unusual finish too because this would have been a sprint finish that all of these teams were thinking

02:00and that now not being a problem because Lorena Vibes has been disqualified from the race
02:04meaning a much more open sprint field
02:07the likes of yesterday's second place finishers

02:14would get a chance to sprint against each other without the greatest road sprinter in the world right now

02:21it was Lucinda Brand of Lidltrek who led under the Flamme Rouge
02:24trying to make sure that Elisa Balsamo in that Malia Rosa was going to take the stage win
02:29but Lara Gillespie was also being piloted well by her UAE ADQ team
02:34there she was in the Malia Rosa, the red jersey
02:37but tagged onto her wheel was the Malia Rosa
02:40of course Elisa Balsamo looking to make good on the fact that she was made the winner

02:46but she wanted to make sure that on stage 2 she made it outright
02:49she broke cover straight down the middle of the road coming in to Carole
02:53and that is exactly what Balsamo did
02:56up alongside her Chiara Consoni banging the bars as well
03:00so close, a much closer sprint finish than we had yesterday
03:04and it's going to be a fascinating battle whenever it does come down to a bunch sprint finish between these

03:38she extends her lead of course with the 10 bonus seconds on the line ahead of

03:43and tomorrow we go into a slightly different day
03:45two categorised climbs and some lumps coming into the finish
03:48plus an uphill finish tomorrow, could still be a sprint
03:52and of course Elisa Balsamo also leads the Malia Rosa
03:56the points classification in that red jersey
04:01the mountains classification, as I say, now led by Eleonora Labella of Amiro Italia Vajano
04:07she will look to defend that tomorrow, I'm sure, with those two categorised climbs
