Listen to what Pfeiffer Georgi, Kristen Faulkner, Marlen Reusser, Maggie Coles-Lyster, Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini and Valentina Cavallar have to say ahead of stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia Women 2026!

Welcome to the 37th edition of one of women’s cycling's most iconic races! After having won the race two years in a row, Longo Borghini is again the cyclist to watch. But with an additional 9th stage joining the race this year and bringing the race to a total of 1177 km, she will have many rivals chasing after her title. With none more dangerous than Demi Vollering, who after a terrific spring season, is looking to take her first Giro victory and is by many pinned as the one to beat. Or will we see a surprise winner emerge in the Dolomites in the recently returned Marlen Reusser or Anna van der Breggen? With a mix of flat sprinting races and rough climbs in the mountains ahead of us, there will be plenty of excitement ahead of the finish in Saluzzo.

00:00Hello, Pfeiffer. How are you? How is going your Giro so far?
00:03Yeah, good actually. I think Stage 3 was a nice opportunity for me
00:06and I think today is a bit of a similar day.
00:08I also had this day marked in my calendar before the race. I'm excited.
00:13Looking at today's stage, what do you expect maybe from the other teams?
00:17Do you think they will keep the energy for the next one or try some attack or stuff like that?
00:22Yeah, we're having a bit of a debate on the bus of what's going to happen.
00:25I think maybe a breakaway could get quite a bit of time
00:28because I think teams will also be thinking about the next two days.
00:31But also it's the last day for more of the sprinter type.
00:35So I think, in my opinion, it's probably going to be a reduced bunch sprint.
00:39How important is to get the climb in the right way in order to face after the downhill next to
00:45the finish?
00:45Yeah, exactly. The climb is actually pretty narrow, the second part of it.
00:48So it's going to be really important positioning and then, like you said, a technical downhill.
00:52So I think positioning is really important.
00:55And then I think there will be time for small groups to come back.
00:57So I think just keep fighting is the motto of today.
01:00Thank you. Good luck.
01:02Kristen, first of all, how are you? How is going the Giro?
01:05It's good. Yeah, we're supporting Max and GC.
01:08And we've just been doing that pretty much every day.
01:11Going for Alex for the sprint as well.
01:12Looking at today's stage, it's not so easy to read with the first flat part and then the climb.
01:17What do you expect?
01:19I think it'll be a day that it's hard to predict.
01:23I think, you know, it's not a clear GC day.
01:25Some riders might try to get in a break.
01:28I think Trek will try to control it for Elisa Balsamo.
01:33So, yeah, it kind of depends.
01:35I think a lot of attacks will go and I think a lot of teams will try and make it
01:38not finish in a sprint because Elisa has been dominating the sprint so far.
01:42But it's just a matter of how well Trek can control it, I guess.
01:45How much will be important to get the climb in the right way in order to finish at the downhill?
01:52Yeah, I think it's not a super technical descent, but it is at the bottom.
01:56So, I think if teams don't want to finish in a sprint, they have to go hard up the climb.
02:02And I'm sure some teams will want to do that.
02:04And then, you know, if you're not positioned well going into the bottom of the descent, it could split up
02:10a little bit maybe.
02:11And if it splits up in that last finale in the straightaway, then maybe it'll be a less predictable stage.
02:17Thank you. Good luck.
02:18So, Marlene, first of all, how are you? How about today's stage? It won't be so easy as we expect.
02:24Thank you. I'm good. And no, I think, I guess many teams will try something. We don't really know who
02:32is trying what, but we expect just that it's not an easy stage, yes.
02:36Looking at today's stage, it's not so easy also to read for the first plot part and then the climb.
02:41What do you expect and how important it is to face the climb in the right way to finish at
02:46the sprint, maybe?
02:47Yeah, well, as I said, it's difficult to understand because so far Elisa Balsama was the strongest sprinter, but she's
02:55also, I think, maybe the fittest sprinter.
02:57So, what are the teams trying to do today? It's hard to understand. We're just more awake than yesterday and
03:08then we'll try to be there.
03:09How much is important to keep the energy in order to face the hardest stages of the Giro that are
03:14coming?
03:16Yeah, of course, it's good to save energy where you can, but it's also a race and when you have
03:20to invest, you have to invest.
03:21And I think, as we saw, maybe I'm anyway not on my top top, seeing what happened in the past,
03:28so I'm a bit like, yeah.
03:31Thank you, good luck.
03:33First of all, Maggie, how are you? How is going your Giro?
03:36Good. I think I'm really, really happy with how the Giro is going. I'm having a great time with the
03:40team. We've had some really, really good results and, yeah, excited for another opportunity today.
03:45After your second place yesterday, could we accept something similar for you today?
03:50I think for sure. Between Lily and I, we've been pretty good at getting a couple seconds this Giro, so
03:56we're definitely gunning for, I mean, gunning for that win.
04:00And, yeah, we'll just have to see how the race is raced.
04:03How important will it be to face the climb before maybe a sprint finish?
04:08Yeah, I think it's going to be, that's really going to dictate the race, that climb. A small group could
04:13go, but it also could come back to a sprint finish.
04:17So I think we have a couple cards that are ready to play and just make sure all the moves
04:21are covered, because you don't know what could get away on that.
04:23Thank you. Good luck.
04:24Grazie.
04:25Eleonora, how are you? How is going the Giro so far?
04:28It's going quite good. We are taking stage by stage. Yes, I think that it's still really open,
04:36because we will have the next two days really, really hard. So yeah, let's see. We are ready.
04:42Looking at today's stage is kind of uncertain and difficult to read. What's your plan in order to face it?
04:48For sure it's open stage. I think that everything can happen. I think that the race will open on the
04:58climb or even a bit before.
05:00So yeah, we are ready with a different plan and we will see what's going on.
05:06We won't expect big changes in the GC, but do you think maybe it is possible to reduce the gaps
05:11and where's?
05:13Maybe today I think the GC will remain the same, because I think that with the next two days everybody
05:20is a bit scared.
05:22But yeah, we have to be ready to everything, because yeah, everything is possible.
05:27Grazie.
05:28Hello Valentina, first of all, how are you? How is going the Giro?
05:31Yeah, I'm fine. I'm happy. Yesterday was quite a hectic stage. And yeah, I'm looking forward to being in the
05:38mountains tomorrow.
05:39So yeah, one more flat stage to go.
05:42So looking at today's stage, I think it will be important to keep the energy in order to face the
05:46hardest stage tomorrow.
05:47But also take a look, because maybe we could expect some attacks on the climbs.
05:51Yeah, for sure. I mean, it's the last possibility for a breakaway to take the victory.
05:56So I think there will be a lot of attacks and it will be for sure a fast race.
06:00And yeah, I think there will be a lot of teams who want to go for the stage victory, I
06:05guess.
06:05What is the mood in your team? Yes, it works with the pink jersey, with the blue jersey.
06:11But you know, you girls are without too important members of the teams.
06:16Does this make a kind of pressure in order to face the hardest stage of tomorrow?
06:21I mean, it's always not good to let too much negativity affect our performance.
06:27But of course it was hard with Lorena being disqualified and it was really rough start in the Giro.
06:35But yeah, we stick together, we are still five.
06:37We still get 110% for Anna and we will see, we will fight.
06:42And yeah, thank you, good luck.
