00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Benson. Today I'm out on the streets of Manchester
00:03talking to people about tailgating. And that's because National Highways have launched a new campaign
00:08to try and reduce the amount of tailgating out on the road. We want to know when people are tailgated,
00:13what's their usual approach, how do they try and get out of that situation, and what is their first emotional reaction?
00:19Well, it's intimidating.
00:21It's a deliberate intimidation tactic in most cases.
00:24When I find something on the road that makes me feel less safe, I just slow down.
00:29That usually resolves the tailgating situation fairly quickly because they either check their behaviour
00:34or they get more aggressive and risk-taking, in which case they're not my problem anymore.
00:38I mean, it's a bit infuriating, really, and it's also like you feel like, what am I doing?
00:43But usually they're just angry, so you've just got to let them go past you, really, and not kind of escalate the situation.
00:48Choose peace.
00:49Choose peace, man, because you don't know. You could be in danger in someone's life.
00:54Good for you, man.
00:56Yeah, just let them just go off. Let them overtake you.
00:59Let them overtake you.
01:00Go to that side.
01:00Go to that side.
01:18Like, follow!
