00:00the washington commanders the six seed last year in the nfc a 12 win football team that did

00:07capitalize on a historic season in land over maryland with historic performances in the playoffs

00:13as well of course the rs the commander is getting to the nfc championship game for the first time

00:20since 1991 more than three decades and in their first year under dan quinn with jayden daniels

00:27the rookie quarterback they get to that nfc title game boy did they get hammered by their divisional

00:32foes of the philadelphia eagles but getting to that stage there can only be optimism entering 2025 for

00:40daniels and the commanders but when there is optimism there also is an added expectation

00:46can the commanders get back to that stage once again and continue to improve on a sensational

00:52rookie year for jayden daniels to me that is the main narrative around this washington team entering

00:572025 and it feels like it is all on jayden daniels had an unbelievably sensational rookie season which

01:03culminated in a monster playoff victory over the detroit lions just to get themselves into a chance

01:09to get to a super bowl which they faltered against the philadelphia eagles it's a tough spot man the

01:13eagles were a good team the eagles were at home they got laid to waste there you sort of learned

01:16nobody thought at the beginning of the season the commanders would be playing for an nfc championship

01:20but now things change and the stakes are higher you still have your offensive coordinator coming back

01:24and cliff kingsbury that was key we thought maybe he'd move on with a legitimate chance to be in

01:28another you know head coaching job in the nfl he stays dan quinn one of the better head coaches

01:33they're just sort of calming influence and he'll get that defense right the defense doesn't have a

01:37ton of talent to me like bobby wagner's age he was great last year will he be great again this year

01:41the defensive line took some hits with some moves that they made the you know the cornerback position

01:45marshawn latimore 86th ranked quarterback last year one of those veteran guys you bring over he didn't work

01:51out all that well but the offense should move the question is is terry mclaurin going to be happy

01:55and how quickly will he be in camp because he's holding out for a new deal debo samuel comes over

02:00a lot of question marks did he lose his fastball in san francisco maybe just a change of scenery in

02:05a new play caller where it's like wait a second well you didn't go from a bad play call he probably

02:08went from the best play caller in the nfl over the past decade in kyle shanahan to a good play caller

02:13and we'll see if they use him correctly i like the offense from washington but i always point out

02:18like just because you had a great rookie season the expectations is you will continue that great

02:23sophomore season which isn't always the case what's the ceiling for washington could they win

02:28the nfc east yes but i do feel like they're going to be battling for second place here in the nfc east

02:33with the dallas cowboys almost neck and neck the entire way the expectations for me of a successful

02:38season usually are well what did you do last year oh we made the nfc championship game you better get

02:43at least back there i don't know if that's the case here a successful season to me in washington

02:46is gaden daniels continues to look good and is healthy and they make a playoff run i just don't

02:52know that that playoff run is going to get as far as the nfc championship game maybe a little bit more

02:56of a lightning in a bottle type season where we didn't expect it now people are expecting it and
