00:00Joe, the 10th pick, which will be the final that we do today,
00:04is one where I think Cincinnati would sprint to the podium to make,
00:08which is Caleb Downs at 10th overall.
00:11We know they need defense.
00:13Caleb Downs is one of those guys who somehow goes 10th
00:16and everyone's like, they just got the best player in the draft.
00:19What do you think about Caleb Downs at 10?
00:22Great pick if they could get him at 10.
00:24He might go sooner.
00:25It's possible depending upon if there's a trade.
00:28But just think about Iminori and how, you know, dominant he was for Seattle.
00:33You know, Caleb Downs came from Alabama,
00:36was the best defensive player on the field for Nick Saban during his last year there,
00:41transfers to a national champion, Ohio State and Ryan Day,
00:44and really took, you know, basically took half the field away
00:48because he's a ball hawking safety.
00:50And his ability to come up and run support and tackle in space
00:53is something that obviously Cincinnati needs.
00:56They have multiple needs of defense, right?
00:59And one of the worst defensive points allowed in the NFL,
01:03he definitely solidifies that.
01:05And if you're going up against Lamar Jackson
01:08and you're going up against Pittsburgh,
01:10to have a ball hawking safety, that could be opportunistic.
01:14I mean, that is a great pick for Cincinnati.
01:17My only fear, Kevin, obviously, is that he's such a dominant player.
01:21He could go potentially in the top five.
01:24Yeah, to be clear, there is a notion that Caleb Downs will be long gone
01:32by the time Cincinnati gets on the clock.
01:35There is a market player to be drafted inside the top five on Cal.
01:38She had 69% right now.
01:41We see the chance for Downs to be a top five pick.
01:45Now, listen, we know how these markets are.
01:47Usually the notion is you'll have six or seven,
01:52sometimes even eight people, right, Joe,
01:53with that greater than 50% chance.
01:56It could be hard to find, you know, excellent value within those markets.
01:59But it's certainly on the board that Downs is gone.
02:01I just think for Cincinnati, it's so likely, Joe,
02:05that there is someone at 10 on the defensive side of the ball,
02:08whether that's Caleb Downs, Reuben Bain, Sonny Stiles,
02:11that they feel really good about selecting.
02:15Heck, your guy at LSU, Mansoor Delaney, right?
02:18Who people think would be the best corner in this draft.
02:21I think Cincinnati is in a very, very good spot at 10th overall
02:27to get themselves an impact player on that side of the football.
02:32I do wonder, let's just say, hey, they're, you know,
02:37they're choosing, let's just, Downs, Bain, and Stiles are all there.
02:41Are they partial to an edge rusher to replace Trey Hendrickson?
02:46Maybe.
02:46I think that's potentially interesting.
02:49But we're going to have to see.
02:51We're going to have to see where the chips land in that respect, Joe.
02:55Free agency, they could get an edge rusher, right, Kevin?
02:59I mean, this is an elite safety.
03:02He's young.
03:03And think about how dominant, and I know it was a few years ago,
03:07but when the Steelers had Minka Fitzpatrick, right,
03:10just the ability to just change the complexity of a game,
03:15the ability to take a third of the football field away.
03:17And we've seen a changing of the guard.
03:20Seattle did it on defense, right?
03:22Multiple teams now have been changing their mentality to be more ball-controlled
03:28and rely on the front seven and rely on an opportunistic defense to carry you to a championship.
03:35He's a great player, and a player that if Cincinnati could steal him at 10, unbelievable.
03:43I want to remind people that the draft process is a long one,
03:48and there are names that you see right here right now who might start to drop out a little bit.
03:55But what's going to happen is there's going to be some names that run up.
04:00And you're going to have a moment where you're like, hey, I got 14 guys that can go inside the
04:05top 10.
04:05And it was very difficult to parse through those names.
04:10What is also going to be interesting in this draft is will we see a second quarterback go inside the
04:16first round?
04:17With Trinidad Chambliss going back to Ole Miss, Joe,
04:20it seems that it's Ty Simpson or Bust in terms of if Mendoza's that only quarterback selected in round number
04:28one.
04:28I cannot buy into Ty Simpson.
04:32Does a team take a shot because they see upside?
04:35It's possible.
04:37But I've seen more negatives and more.
04:40I haven't seen Ty Simpson, Kevin, live up to the expectations of a first-round talent.
04:47Okay.
04:47He was around the best talent potentially in Alabama, and they failed to live up to expectations.
04:53They lost four games.
04:54Yes, he's had good games, but I haven't seen the elite games, to me, to warrant him being a first
05:01-round selection.
05:02I think he's more a day-two or a day-three type of pick right now.
05:07Really, we know which quarterbacks have the buzz to get inside the first round.
05:12I will say, and I'm glad I'm the one saying this and not Joe,
05:15I'm surprised Garrett Nussmeyer has not been discussed in this capacity more.
05:22Nussmeyer was viewed as a potential top-five pick, Heisman Trophy winner.
05:26I know LSU didn't have the season many believed, but, again,
05:31it's not like Ty Simpson really lit the world on fire this year at Alabama.
05:35Bye-bye.
05:35Bye-bye.
05:35Bye.
