Transcript
00:00The Attorney General is to review certain transactions conducted by the former government
00:05as it pertains to the Water and Sewerage Authority.
00:09I could put the country on notice today.
00:12Today, what I have shared with respect to WASA has already gone to the Honorable Attorney General
00:18and that is why the members spoke about the AG talking about he will go to war with them
00:23and the AG knows what he speaks about.
00:26According to Public Utilities Minister Bari Padarath, among the files is one pertaining to the WASA Transformation Office
00:34which was established to drive the WASA Transformation Plan.
00:39I then asked, where is this office? Is it at WASA?
00:45Nobody could tell me where this office is.
00:47Later I found out that they leased a building on Scott Bush Street for $3 million
00:53for five people to operate out of.
00:56When I started to ask the questions, then I got to resignations.
01:00I asked, well, where did these resignations come from?
01:03They said, well, the people who are working on the Transformation Plan,
01:06I said, but I've been asking for the names of these people for two weeks now.
01:11Why am I now getting resignations?
01:13So why don't they want to continue?
01:15Mr. Speaker, they could produce no work
01:18in terms of what they have been doing for the last two to three years.
01:22It was a slush fund.
01:24It was a slush fund, Mr. Speaker.
01:27Also catching Minister Padarath's attention
01:29was a contract awarded to a company
01:32owned by a man who was registered as the former minister's sub-agent for elections.
01:37A campaign manager who got almost $25 million in contracts
01:46in the last three years in Warsaw,
01:49but a campaign manager that belongs to the People's National Movement.
01:52And today I can prove it.
01:54Today I can prove it.
01:58$25 million in three years.
02:01Many of which were so select,
02:04many of which is being investigated now.
02:06But Mr. Speaker, days before the general election,
02:11there was a company that was awarded a $3 million contract,
02:18sole select.
02:19And the member for Ruka Lopino looks at me very puzzled,
02:21but I'm almost certain he's not really puzzled.
02:24While speaking earlier in the debate,
02:26MP4 Ruka Lopino and former Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzalez
02:30had some words for Attorney General John Jeremy.
02:33This is someone who has the distinguished career
02:39of a vote of no confidence by the law association
02:43for interfering in the operations of the director of public prosecutions.
02:48And therefore, when he stands in this parliament,
02:56a stranger to this parliament,
02:58not an elected member,
02:59pointing to members opposite and said,
03:01I'm coming for you, I'm coming for you.
03:04I want to tell the Honourable Attorney General
03:07that the Lord is my shepherd
03:10and there is nothing I shall do.
