00:00I want to talk exactly about the demographics that are supporting Governor Cuomo because he really became a household name during COVID.
00:08Those COVID pressers were appointment viewing for a lot of people.
00:11He was touted as America's governor.
00:14And at one point there was buzz that he would even be seriously considered as a presidential contender.
00:19But he did face parallel scandals.
00:22One, he faced a lot of criticism for the way that he handled COVID, especially in nursing homes.
00:26And two, he also faced a flurry of sexual harassment allegations, and he ultimately resigned as governor after them.
00:33So now, just a few years later, I'm really surprised at the demographics that are showing him the most support.
00:38Talk to us about that.
00:41Yeah, this is where it gets kind of interesting.
00:43So Cuomo gets most of his support from older voters in particular.
00:49So those who are roughly over the age of 60.
00:52We see also that he is gaining support from minority voters.
00:57And in that final round of voting, Black voters and Hispanic voters in particular, majorities are backing Cuomo.
01:06I think roughly 75% of Black voters are backing Cuomo in that final round.
01:12So, you know, it's a very diverse camp that Cuomo has.
01:17I think that's probably a big boost for him.
01:20And if, you know, Mamdani wants to get closer to the finish line, he's going to have to really boost his numbers among some of these minority voters.
01:29His coalition looks a lot different currently.
01:32Talk to us about his coalition.
01:34Why are we seeing this meteoric rise from him?
01:36And who's exactly supporting him?
01:39Yeah, so he has consolidated a lot of that progressive vote.
01:44We see that he is backed by a majority in final voting of white voters, also college educated, and especially those postgraduate voters as folks who have, you know, masters and above.
01:59They're backing Mamdani and younger voters as well.
02:03As you might expect, you know, these progressive candidates, they tend to attract more from more support from younger voters.
02:11So, Mamdani definitely has that coalition.
02:14He has managed to consolidate a lot of that vote.
02:17There's still some breaking for Lander and Adams.
02:21But I think in second choice, third choice, fourth choice, et cetera, they ultimately are going towards Mamdani.
02:29He just has to make sure that he's getting those folks to list him as their second, third, fourth choice if they aren't backing him at first.
