00:00New York City's three mayoral candidates faced off in the first of two televised debates on Thursday night as voters prepare to head to the polls in the general election in just a couple of weeks.
00:13Democratic Socialist Zoran Mandami, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa were all on stage.
00:22They butted heads on everything from local issues, including crime, policing, housing, and the largest public school system in the nation, to national issues, like how they would handle the Trump administration and their stances on the Gaza ceasefire deal.
00:35Polls show Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary, is the frontrunner in the race.
00:40A second and final debate is scheduled for next week. Election Day is November 4th.
