00:00People say we got this. It's over. Cuomo is cooked. Do not believe it. The billionaires
00:06who rigged our economy and tried to buy our election don't give up easy.
00:10New York City's mayoral candidates are making their final push for votes
00:13ahead of Tuesday's high-stakes election in the nation's largest city.
00:20Zoran Mamdani is warning his supporters to keep up the momentum heading into the final stretch,
00:25while his opponent, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, took aim at the 34-year-old Democratic Socialists
00:30inexperience in his last ad before Election Day.
00:34Life in New York is tough right now. Candidates who need on-the-job training can't fix it.
00:41I see a new day just over the horizon.
00:44Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, meanwhile, argues neither Mamdani nor Cuomo are the answer
00:49to what he sees as rising crime in the Big Apple.
00:52With them in charge, you are not safe.
00:56We deserve better. I'm Curtis Sliwa. I'm asking for your vote for mayor.
01:02Together, we'll build back a safer, more affordable New York.
01:06The last-minute message has come as early voting has closed,
01:09with a record number of more than 735,000 ballots cast.
01:14On Sunday, the final day of early voting, roughly 151,000 people cast their ballots,
01:18the most of any day since polls opened late last month.
01:22President Donald Trump also weighed in on the New York City race in an interview with 60 Minutes on CBS.
01:28He appeared to begrudgingly endorse Cuomo while calling him a bad Democrat and labeling Mamdani as a communist.
01:35I'm not a fan of Cuomo one way or the other, but if it's going to be between a bad Democrat and a communist,
01:43I'm going to pick the bad Democrat all the time, to be honest with you.
01:46Mamdani quickly used Trump's tepid endorsement as fuel for his campaign, writing sarcastically on social media,
01:53congratulations, Andrew Cuomo. I know how hard you worked for this.
01:57The race has also drawn the attention of late-night television, including Saturday Night Live,
02:02which parodied a recent debate among the three candidates.
02:05Hello, voters. You all know me. I got us through COVID and then yada, yada, yada, Hong Kong, squeeze, squeeze.
02:12And I know some of you are out there scared of the idea of a young socialist Muslim mayor,
02:17so allow me to put you at ease by smiling after every answer in a way that physically hurts my face.
02:24I'm thrilled to be here and not getting shot in the back of a yellow cab five times by the Gatties and Gambinos
02:34as I was famously in 1992, 1993, and 94.
02:40Most polls show Mamdani with a double-digit lead over Cuomo, with Sliwa a distant third.
02:46Also up for grabs in the election, all 51 city council spots,
02:49and an initiative that would coincide local elections with presidential cycles.
