00:00Chief Secretary Farley-Augustin said it is the intention of the Tobago House of Assembly
00:06to have the acceleration of projects, even at the micro level.
00:11He is optimistic that, with the change of government,
00:15the THA would not encounter great difficulty in trying to achieve its goals.
00:21I'm looking in this budget for ways in which we can accelerate the smaller things.
00:26You know, the person that needs a little retaining wall,
00:29the person that needs a drain in front of their home.
00:32I'm not talking about a one-kilometer road.
00:35The person that needs maybe a few feet paved because what's a dug up that arm
00:41and has been digging it up for the last how many years?
00:44Mr. Agustin said Finance Secretary Petalan Roberts
00:48has been meeting with stakeholders on the budget presentation.
00:53Secretary Roberts, she has been doing the consultations,
00:56meeting with varying stakeholders all across the island
01:00and gathering the data for the budget.
01:04But the question remains.
01:06Do you think finally that Tobago will get what Tobago presents?
01:11I think Tobago will get close to what Tobago presents.
01:16We may never get all of what we asked for.
01:19And I'm pragmatic about it.
01:22As a matter of fact, when we started,
01:25I started by asking for us to get just around 6.8% of the budget.
01:32By last budget, I asked for us to just get over $5,
01:37like $5 and maybe $0.12 out of every $100.
01:41In other words, we're not trying to be unreasonable.
01:47We never have been.
01:49We are saying if we spend $100 on development in the country,
01:53then giving Tobago just over $5 of that $100
01:58should not be too much to ask for.
