Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra is celebrating 90 years.


This year, there was a bit of a change to the usual festivities, as TASSO presented awards to entities and individuals.

00:00As part of its activities to mark 90 years in operation, the Trinidad All-Stars Teal Orchestra held a day-long celebration at its panyard on May 21st from 6am to 6pm for what it called a unique pan-lime experience.
00:15Patrons were allowed to get deals on a number of things including food, clothing and even haircuts.
00:20But that was only one of the benefits.
00:22People were also treated to the sound of music from the second place winners in the 2025 Under-21 Panorama Competition, Massey Trinidad All-Stars Youth Steel Orchestra.
00:46And at times the energy was very high.
00:52The event was patronized by a number of dignitaries and public officials including Culture and Community Development Minister Michelle Benjamin and Leader of the Opposition Penelope Beckles Robinson.
01:06Tasso Day also saw the introduction of something new this year, the giving out of awards.
01:12The first set of awards was under the name of Lennox Sunny Allen.
01:16Lennox Sunny Allen actually supported the band by teaching our players how to play the tenor pan correctly.
01:27We pride ourselves on having the best tenor pan players in the world.
01:34And so the inscription on this says for inspiring young people to achieve their potential through the rhythm of their hands.
01:43Among the awardees were Easton Boys, Trinity College, St. Margaret's and Southeast Port of Spain.
01:50Individuals were also recognized through the giving of awards including members of the media such as Express Journalist Michelle Lubon.
