00:00One week after several teen mothers and their young children were taken to the St. Jude's home for girls,
00:06the administration of the Mary Care facility says the minors have to be moved.
00:11Mary Care was raised by fire last Wednesday, and the administrators are now asking for urgent donations to rebuild.
00:18Vanessa Cutting has more.
00:22The statue of the Virgin Mary is the only thing left standing.
00:26Among the rubble of the Mary Care home for young mothers and children.
00:34The Woodbrook facility was destroyed by fire last Wednesday.
00:39The four young mothers, one of whom is pregnant, and their children,
00:43had been housed at the St. Jude's home since the incident.
00:47However, their temporary stay came to an end today.
00:50There are four young ladies, all between the ages of 12 and 16,
00:55and they have two toddlers with them, a boy at three, a girl two years, and one mother is pregnant.
01:04The other girl had her baby quite recently, but she cannot care for the child, so the child is not with her.
01:11At this time, the child might be about six weeks old.
01:14The whole idea of this ministry is that these children should know at least their mothers.
01:21If they never have an opportunity to meet a dad, they should know mom,
01:25and mom should have the satisfaction of knowing.
01:28I did not have to give up my child, so that the parents are journeyed with, they go to school.
01:35Alternate lodging has been secured for the minors.
01:39Members of the public have also come forward, donating mostly clothing items.
01:44However, much more assistance is needed.
01:47We need to have some technical persons who will pull down the structure,
01:51because as you see, it is over 90% destroyed, and to cart it away.
01:58So hopefully, there are companies or even city corporations that will desire to undertake such a task for us.
02:08And yes, we are needing persons who would assist us in cleaning up.
02:13But with over 30 young girls and children in their care, the majority of whom are at a location in South,
02:20the administrators are asking for assistance to rebuild the facility bigger and better.
02:26We are thinking it's going to cost approximately $3 million.
02:30So, beloveds, all those of you who would like to make some contribution towards this,
02:37you can lodge any monies, transfer it to the Republic Bank Limited, Tunapuna,
02:44Mary Care, Eternal Light Community, Mary Care.
02:47And our number is 350-155-821-001.
02:57Again, 350-155-821-001.
03:03We are grateful for anything and any amounts that you would send us to help with the rebuilding
03:10and the relocating of our young ladies and their children.
03:14Thank you, thank you, thank you.

03:20Well, if you are unable to assist the facility with money,
03:23then you can still help by donating items such as appliances,
03:27water tanks, beds, play pens, and car seats, among other things.
