00:00Hi, it's DHA's Rock and Rough and I am Terry Carr. I'm here with my good friend Don from
00:06Associated Humane Societies of Newark, New Jersey, who has another AHS, a long-time resident. You
00:14know, when the dogs are in the shelter for a long time, he's coming up on a year. Yes. This is Joey,
00:19by the way, as you can see, he loves people and he loves Don and he's a very friendly, sweet guy,
00:24but it's very, very stressful for our canine friends when they are in the shelter for long
00:29periods of time. Yeah, Joey doesn't do well in his kennel. He'll be here a year in October. He,
00:35he's a really good dog, a total mush ball. He'll be a Velcro dog and a couch potato with you. He'll
00:41also go for a walk. Yeah, yeah. He's kind of like all-purpose. He definitely enjoys getting his
00:47belly rubbed, his head scratched. He will sit by your side, Netflix and chill, this is the dog. He,
00:52he would do best in a home with, potentially with a larger dog, no small dogs or cats for Joey. He
00:59definitely struggling in his kennel, struggling, struggling in his kennel. So we try to get him
01:03out as much as possible. He was, he was really, had a whole team of people come to, to, to work
01:08with him to make sure he gets enough time out the kennel, but he definitely needs to get out.
01:12Yeah. Very, very difficult for our shelter dogs in kennels, just in general, because doggies are
01:19pack animals and they like to be with their pack, whether it's people or other dogs or their family.
01:24Joey. So kind of that isolation and being a kennel can be very, very, very stressful.
01:28That and the fact that there's, you know, a kennel full of dogs barking all day long.
01:32It just, it's, it's, it's been rough on him. Yeah. He's a sweet guy. He's a beautiful dog too.
01:37Let's check out Joey interacting with our staff on DHA is rock and rough. Good boy.
01:43Meet Joey or Joey bag of donuts. As he's called from Associated Humane Societies of Newark,
01:49New Jersey. Joey is such a great dog. He's super friendly. He loves kids, loves dogs his own size.
01:56No cats, please. And is really stressed in his kennel at the shelter. So an adopter or foster
02:01family is really needed for this awesome boy. If you're looking for a sweet dog, who's both active
02:08and a cuddler, Joey could be the dog for you. Adopt Joey. And that big, beautiful smiling face could
02:15be hanging out with you. It's a great time to adopt your new best friend. Weather is warm.
02:20Days are considerably longer. You can be outside getting to know Joey and taking him for walks.
02:27He's a beautiful dog. As you can see, would love to be a walking partner with you, but also settles
02:32down nicely. Don, if people are interested in setting up a meet and greet, do they just stop by the
02:37shelter? Do they have to call first? Give us a little back. Absolutely. Just pop by the shelter.
02:40We're open from 12 to 4.30 every day of the week. Joey also will do well with children.
02:47He's been introduced to a two-year-old and at some of our events, we have kids, seven,
02:51eight, nine, 10 years old, just laying down on the floor, petting them all day.
02:54Yeah. I always say he's ready to go home. The dogs from AHS are MVPs at events. You guys always bring
03:00the right dogs out to the events. They're always so sweet and amazing. You have a lot of bigger dogs,
03:06of course, like Joey and a long-term resident. We would love to see him get into a home as
03:11soon as possible. Set up a meet and greet. What do you have to lose? Maybe he would be
03:14the perfect, perfect dog in your pack. DHA's Rock and Rough is being powered by my animal-loving

03:40100%. Let's do it. We'll go over to Hometown and you've got to hook up with them too because
03:43they do adoption events. So I'll hook the two of you up. Yeah, they're an amazing, amazing
03:46group. And of course, our good friends at Zoom and Groom. You bark, we park right out in front
03:52of your home and make it really simple for you. You can always stop by our WDHA studios and see
03:56the Zoom and Groom truck because we use Zoom and Groom here at the Rock of New Jersey.
04:00Let's get Joey into a home. He's a great dog. He's looking right now. We've got a bunch
04:05of pet supplies and some toys over there and he's sitting there going, wow, this is kind
04:09of like doggy nirvana here. I think I'm going to go check it out for DHA's Rock and Rough
04:13on behalf of Don and Joey and all the great dogs in Newark because you guys do such a great
04:18job, by the way, at the shelter. And since you've been there, you've really just done an amazing
04:24job with a lot of these dogs that have been there for a really long time. Thank you very much for
04:27trying. Thank you. We remind everyone to opt to adopt because look at the beautiful dogs
04:32in our local animal shelters. Just sweet, amazing and looking to join your pet.
04:36Join your pet.
