00:00Welcome to Friday, everybody.
00:02Friday!
00:03Now, for Americans, it typically means
00:05trying to find a way to go out,
00:07cut loose, blow off some steam
00:10after a long work week.
00:12But in Sweden,
00:13it is just the opposite.
00:15What? Huh? Yeah.
00:17That concept is starting to catch
00:20on over here now, too. They call it...
00:23I've practiced
00:24this a couple times. Hang on a second.
00:25You can do it. You gotta silence it.
00:27Yep. Fredixmas.
00:30Excuse me? Fredixmas.
00:32Okay? Okay. It's like Christmas,
00:34but it's Fredixmas. It is exactly what I
00:36thought it was. Yeah. And it translates to
00:38Cozy Friday.
00:40So, there
00:41is a psychiatrist in
00:44Virginia named Dr. Tina Thomas who
00:46says, this is gonna be a welcome
00:48shift for Americans because in Western society,
00:50we often think of Friday
00:52as the day to just, like,
00:54make the plans, go
00:56all out, go crazy,
00:58and try to burn off everything that we
01:00had pent up over the week.
01:02Right. But in Sweden,
01:02they do the opposite.
01:04They do their cozy Fridays
01:05where they snuggle down,
01:07they order in,
01:08they light candles,
01:09they watch movies,
01:10and they rest
01:13so that they can then go out
01:14on Friday,
01:16or, I mean,
01:16on Saturday.
01:18Right?
01:18Wow. I like this idea a lot.
01:20But it's like, it's a way of like,
01:22okay,
01:22I just had this
01:24long, chaotic week.
01:26Rather than
01:27keep that tension up
01:29and go out,
01:29I'm gonna relax.
01:31And they said that it's so
01:32much better for your mental
01:34well-being.
01:34You know, it's interesting
01:35because I think, Andy,
01:36you and I have talked about
01:37this in the past.
01:38I think you and I are both
01:39pro,
01:39if I'm gonna do something
01:41over the weekend,
01:42It's Saturday.
01:44Oh, really?
01:45Oh, no,
01:45I definitely want to do
01:46things on Saturday night.
01:47Oh, I prefer to roll it over
01:49and be stressed all day
01:50and knock it out
01:51and then I have two full
01:5424-hour days
01:55of rest.
01:57Yeah, I think my problem
01:58is that like on Fridays,
02:00I'm burnt out from the week
02:01and then it takes me
02:02so much longer
02:03to figure out
02:04what I'm gonna wear.
02:05So this way,
02:05I can just go to bed
02:06Friday night
02:07and wake up Saturday
02:08and I have all day
02:09to decide what I'm gonna wear
02:10when I go out Saturday night.
02:11Right.
02:12I mean, that is a good point.
02:13And then you still have Sunday
02:15to reset and rest.
02:16Yeah.
02:16And that's,
02:17I mean, that's a good idea.
02:19Yeah.
02:19I like that.
02:20You know, we started actually,
02:21instead of driving
02:22to go see my folks
02:23who live three hours away
02:24on a Friday after work,
02:27after my wife gets off
02:28at 4.30,
02:29we would just leave
02:30on Saturday morning.
02:30So then we are kind of enacting
02:32this chill Friday night.
02:34You are.
02:34We take our time to pack,
02:36like then we get
02:36a good night's sleep
02:37and we wake up in the morning
02:38and we get in the car
02:39nice and early.
02:39Cozy Friday.
02:40Because honestly,
02:41then you totally reset
02:42for Saturday.
02:43Right.
02:43You've got more energy
02:44on Saturday.
02:45Your body likes it better.
02:47Right.
02:48It reduces anxiety.
02:50Your stress hormone cortisol,
02:52it can reduce that.
02:54Right.
02:54Which we don't want
02:55because it makes us fat.
02:56Yep.
02:57And it helps your immune system.
02:59Cortisol makes belly fat, y'all.
03:02Oh, no.
03:02We don't want that.
03:03It comes out in your tears, though,
03:04so crying is a good thing.
03:05Oh, that's good to know.
03:07These are things I learned
03:07as an emotional person.
03:09Hot take.
03:09Instead of just cozy Fridays,
03:11we do cozy Fridays,
03:12cozy Saturdays,
03:13and cozy Sundays,
03:14and we just don't leave the house.
03:15Thoughts?
03:16Thoughts?
03:16Thoughts?
03:17That's my life.
03:17I can do that.
03:18That's my life.
03:19I can do that.
