00:00It's the first art exhibition at the Vishnu Boys Hindu College and Krish is
00:05happy to share his print and graphic pieces.
00:09I try to blend the movement and tranquility in my business. I have the lone wolf. It's
00:15depicting various line thicknesses and textures, showing the strength and the courage
00:23The exhibition is entitled Arab which means the beginning and it's quite
00:31fitting as it's the college's first art exhibition. Students are happy to share
00:37their creativity and most items seen here are up for purchase.
00:53Pranav is behind one of the fastest items to be sold.
01:16And being a faith-based college, you would find the deities and mysticisms of Hinduism finding
01:39its way into the artwork. Veresh loves to paint Sri Krishna and his consort
01:45Radha Rani.
01:47This painting actually took over two months to complete. With the help of my art teachers,

02:00While this school has been thought of as a science and technology school, the art program
02:06here has found a home and has shattered many misconceptions.
02:10We think art is not academic, but art is definitely academia. And this is a true testament of it.
02:17And the level of skill and technical aptitude that we've always have here and learned through
02:22throughout the past three years is definitely visible here today.
02:26For fellow instructor Arvin Ganesh, the discipline becomes an integral part of the lives of students.
02:32We train them and we teach them that art is not just, you know, colouring in a colouring book. It's more about, you know, a life skill. Because art is probably part of everything that they do. And for me personally, I like them to understand that the creative aspect is very important in any job that they plan to do in the future.
02:57The variety of pieces impressed patrons.
03:13Reynald Ramlogan, Curriculum Coordinator with the Education Ministry says art is not just a subject.
03:20It gives them a sense of motivation. It gives them a sense of confidence. You know, when they do a piece of work and you work a stuff for public consumption, it gives them that sense of confidence. And with that, they will be able to perform a lot of things.
03:36And with the benefits of the program evident, Principal Devindra Bharat made a welcome announcement at the event.
03:43Come September 2025, we will be introducing for the first time at Michigan University College, our key art and design program to our brand new forms of students.
03:55How did that decision arise?
03:57We have a group of students, a co-group of students, who showed that they were excellent at the visual arts. We have sculptors, painters, they draw very well. And there's a demand, there's a growing demand. And the talent that we have seen over time, we had to respond to it.
