The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service executed Operation Push Back in Sea Lots on Tuesday, targeting gang activity and illegal operations. The early-morning operation resulted in the removal of surveillance equipment, disconnection of electricity, and the arrest of five individuals for electricity theft.

00:00The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service carried out a coordinated operation in
00:04the Ceylons area today, resulting in the removal of 22 surveillance cameras and
00:09four DVR systems, as well as the disconnection of electricity to 18 homes.
00:15Five individuals were also charged with larceny of electricity. The operation,
00:21dubbed Operation Pushback, targeted the Ceylons community, specifically Pioneer
00:27Drive and Production Avenue, in a bid to disrupt the activities of rival gang
00:32leaders in the area. The operation, which took place between 3 a.m. and 1145 a.m.,
00:39was executed without incident, according to police. Led by senior officers, the
00:45operation involved several law enforcement units, including the K-9
00:50Branch, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Guard and Emergency
00:54Branch, and TNTAC Police. Officers conducted searches at 23 residences,
01:00vacant lots, open areas, and along the shoreline. During the operation,
01:06surveillance cameras mounted on trees and utility poles were also removed.
01:11Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Northwest District,
01:15Garvin Henry, addressed ongoing issues in the Ceylons area during a media briefing
01:21today. He assured the public that the police presence remains strong in the
01:25area, with no new incidents reported as the time of the briefing. According to
01:31police, residents have indicated that the situation is currently calm and under
01:36control. Up to this time, we have not identified any victim of any shooting.
01:44However, we were able to locate a male individual at the Portispin General
01:52Hospital who appeared to be badly beaten. However, he was treated and
01:58has been subsequently discharged.
