The T&T Police Service initiative "Operation Beacon" has yeilded results with seven suspects now in police custody, and several charges laid.

00:00Operation Beacon, which was launched by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service at 9 a.m. on
00:05December 29, 2025, is ongoing. According to police, the initiative, which is geared towards
00:12protecting vulnerable individuals, has yielded results up to 9 a.m. on January 2, 2026. Police
00:19report that seven suspects have been arrested. In the Central Division, a person was arrested
00:24and charged in connection with a sexual offense involving a child. There were two arrests in
00:29the Southwestern and Southern Divisions, for which charges were laid relating to sexual
00:35penetration. In the Northern Division, a suspect was arrested for sexual communication with
00:40a minor. Investigations are continuing into that matter. And in the Tobago Division, three
00:46people were arrested and charged for offenses, including kidnapping, robbery with violence,
00:52assault, indecent assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and threats to
00:58kill. The charges amount to 12, inclusive of four counts of sexual penetration.
01:04Operation Beacon, under Deputy Commissioner of Police Natasha George, is labeled as an ongoing
01:10effort, which demonstrates the TTPS's commitment to combating crimes against women and children
01:16across Trinidad and Tobago. Police say the exercise was conducted without incident. The TTPS is pleading
01:23with the public to report incidents of abuse or criminal activity, and it is seeking to reaffirm
