Court hears case of man charged with after alleged Domestic Violence death

There's been a court hearing in Alice Springs where a 39-year-old man has been charged with murder of a woman. The 41-year-old woman, believed to be his partner, was found dead on Sunday morning.

00:12The man was remanded in custody and his case was heard before the local courts here today.

00:18His lawyer arguing that his client be excused from appearing before the court for safety

00:25His lawyer has also asked for a six-week adjournment, which the prosecuting sergeant

00:30agreed to and the judge granted.

00:33Police previously alleged they arrived to find the 41-year-old woman dead outside her

00:38home in Alice Springs North at 8 o'clock Sunday morning.

00:42It follows a 51-year-old woman being found dead beside the Todd River less than a month

00:47ago.

00:48Her partner was charged with murder and breaching a domestic violence order.

00:53A central Australian women's family safety group says its leaders who knew both women

00:59are devastated.
