00:00A 27-year-old woman has died after an alleged domestic violence attack in Queensland
00:05with her former partner charged with murder.
00:09The woman was found unresponsive at a home in Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane,
00:14shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 12th August, 2026.
00:19Police and paramedics attempted to revive her, but she died at the scene.
00:23Can I start by offering our condolences to the family and friends of this young lady
00:31who has tragically lost her life.
00:35At about 12.27 this morning, police received a phone call from a man
00:41reporting that an unresponsive female was at his address following an assault.
00:48Police arrived at that location within minutes
00:52and subsequently located a 27-year-old footy-point corpsman
00:58in an unresponsive state within a bedroom at the rear of the house.
01:04Police allege she died by asphyxiation
01:07and her 37-year-old former partner, Ronald Cora,
01:11allegedly known as rapper MC Trix,
01:14has been charged with murder,
01:15which will be recorded as a domestic violence offence.
01:19Police said she had recently sought help over domestic and family violence
01:23and a temporary protection order had been issued by a magistrate.
01:27The victim becomes the 45th Australian woman lost to violence in 2026,
01:33according to Australian Femicide Watch and the Red Heart Movement.
01:37Both police and paramedics commenced CPR for a period of time,
01:42but unfortunately that woman could not be saved.
01:47Police subsequently arrested a 37-year-old Slacks Creek man and declared a crime sent.
01:56So as I'm sure you can appreciate,
01:58this investigation is in its very early stages
02:01and we currently have a team of detectives
02:04from both the Logan District Cornwall Investigation Branch
02:07and the Homicide Investigation Unit
02:09are working tirelessly now to identify the circumstances leading up to this woman's death.
02:18At this point in time, I would ask that
02:23if anyone has any information in relation to this,
02:27to please contact police.
02:28There will be a forensic examination conducted at the scene today
02:32and there will be a case morton to determine the exact cause of death.
