00:05at the 63rd Full Citizen Sports Awards.
00:08Fittingly, the theme of the event was The Power of Perseverance, a treat the 2024 Sportswoman
00:14and Man of the Year know very well.
00:17Our Senior Sportswoman of the Year for 2024, West Indies Women's Cricketer, Karishma Ramara.
00:29The Sportswoman of the Year acknowledged her support staff and dedicated the award
00:33to her late mother.
00:34You know, I would like to thank, obviously, my late mum.
00:38She passed away in 2023.
00:42She's been a really, really big supporter of me and yeah, I'd like to dedicate this
00:46award to her.
00:48As for the Sportsman of the Year, there was very little surprise as to the winner.
00:52The Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist wasn't there in person but spoke about his perseverance.
01:00Our 2024 Sportsman of the Year is Jareem Richards.
01:08When I look back at how this year started versus how it finished, it was a blessing.
01:15I finished off with the best season in my career, a national record, the fastest I've
01:21ever ran.
01:22So it was definitely the most challenging and struggling part of my life, I would say.
01:29But also, it was something that built strength going forward.
01:34Youth was served as well as the Youth Sportswoman and Man of the Year were honoured.

01:59The Alicia Lewis Award for Team of the Year went to the 2024 Hockey Fives World Cup team.
