INCREASED PATROLS IN BLANCHISSEUSE

The Planning Minister - who is also the MP for Arima - says an increased presence of the Police Service and the Defence Force in Blanchisseuse has resulted in almost 20 months with no murders in the fishing community.  Minister Pennelope Beckles was speaking during the inaugural opening of the NCRHA's, Disaster Response Site – NCD Prevention & Retreat Centre in Blanchisseuse on Friday.

00:05that about two years ago, there were some concerns raised because over a very

00:12short period of time, we had quite a lot of murders. I want to use the

00:18opportunity to acknowledge my colleague, the Honorable Minister Fitzgerald Hines,

00:26the TTPS and the Defense Force for what they have done. Since that time, it's

00:34almost about 20 months with no murders in Blancheshears. There was a time that,

00:41you know, people started wondering, well, you know, what is going on here and not

00:46wanting to come to the area, but it's important to make that point that they

00:51have done an excellent job.
