00:00Opposition leader Penelope Beckles is accusing Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Bissessa of trying to divert public attention away from mounting
00:08national issues.
00:10Speaking at a PNM public meeting, Beckles criticized the Prime Minister's leadership style and the government's handling of several matters.
00:17The audacity of Kamala Passat-Bissessa to attempt to shift the national outrage aimed at her pathetic leadership, her incompetent
00:33government, and her bongling commissioner is unsurprising as it is disgusting.
00:44Beckles also accused the Prime Minister of governing through social media while neglecting key national concerns.
00:52She referenced a recent social media post by Mrs. Pissons-Bissessa concerning a police investigation involving members of Beckles' family.
01:02Try and focus on repairing relations with your maker and your family.
01:10Don't worry about my family.
01:13Don't worry about my family.
01:16Prove that you're fit and you're able and then come and meet me.
01:21The opposition leader further questioned the government's handling of the recently announced protest restrictions linked to the 19 bullets, 19
01:29protests campaign.
01:31Beckles said it was concerning that the Prime Minister appeared to reference a legal notice outlining prohibited protest zones before
01:39the document was officially released.
01:41And today, today, today the police is now having a press conference to explain about it.
01:49You don't find that kind of strange.
01:51So who really guarding the guards?
01:54Who is guarding the guards?
01:57She also criticized the restrictions themselves, which prohibit demonstrations near locations, including the Parliament building, President's House and the office
02:07of the Prime Minister.
02:08But you know what I find interesting?
02:10If you go there to protest now, do you have any Prime Minister there?
02:20The diplomatic centre, if you go there, do you have anybody there?
02:26There is not the same centre where they say it has no electricity, it has no this, Rowley leave this,
02:34he leave alcohol, all kind of thing.
02:36You know they say it can't go there?
02:39The office of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Finance.
02:46Beckles questioned how the Prime Minister referenced a legal notice before it was published.
02:51You have to ask yourself, is the Commissioner of Police acting independently?
02:58Because if it is that the Prime Minister had access to this notice before the police was able to come
03:10and discuss it with the public,
03:13then you know who really in charge.
03:16It's not the Commissioner of Police.
03:17She says the developments raised serious concerns about democracy, freedom of expression and the independence of law enforcement institutions in
03:27Trinidad and Tobago.
