00:07However, others we spoke to today say police presence is low in some areas, and they're

00:15Reporter Sindhu Raghoba Teekasingh met with people within the city of San Fernando today,
00:20and this is what some of them had to say.
00:23It's coming to come, because since after that came out, I ain't really find it had no shooting,
00:31no killing, no nothing like that.
00:34But it could be better.
00:36But thank God if it wasn't for them, this year would have been worse than how it is.
00:41Right now I find they're doing, they're doing real things, what they're doing there.
00:45I haven't seen any officers in the last few days.
00:49I've been walking up and down heights, you know, until like 2 or 3 in the last couple of days.
00:54So I definitely feel they should have like a little bit more people out, you know, doing patrols and stuff.
01:00I haven't really been seeing much police officers around San Fernando, but I trust that they are doing their job.
01:06Based on the findings, I understand that there have been arrests.
01:11However, I think that we need this in our country because the crime level is very high.
01:16It is doing something. It is.
01:19And I'm more comfortable for my kids to be going to school.
01:23They were scared to go to school at first because fear of kidnapping, fear of street bullets, fear of a lot of things.
01:32While some were pleased to hear that the TTPS has been able to make over 100 arrests
01:38and seized more than a dozen firearms,
01:41it's a bit concerned that the big fish criminals will continue to remain untouched.
01:47But I also would like the big boys to be arrested in all honesty
01:53because we all know in Trinidad and Tobago that the small man can't bring in all them automatic weapons and so on.
02:00So it's about time we hear big names being arrested and really get to the root of the problem.
02:07I think we just went up in mud by calling an SOE and just the boys on the side of the street,
02:12the gang members getting arrested and nobody who really has the capital to bring in these weapons.
02:20Nothing is happening with them.
