00:36Because we're struggling with crime here, roadside robbery and all these things.
00:43You know? So that would be very good. I'm happy about that.

00:51Because, you know, people will be aware that if ever they have any intention of doing the wrong thing,
00:58they'll know they have people around who could apprehend them.
01:00Safety, you can sleep comfortable.
01:03You can do whatever in your house, comfortable without saying anything.
01:08It's something that we welcome and I personally welcome in my area being a businessman.
01:13And, you know, it will deter some of these activities that is happening
01:18because I always believe that the presence of the police plays a big part when it comes to crime.
01:25Over in Princess Town and Teruba, San Fernando, where two more sites are proposed,
01:30at Margaritou Junction and the Teruba Flyover, respectively, residents also supported the initiative.
01:38We feel comfortable with that because, you know, it has plenty of things going on.
01:44And, you know, it's better to have the police around.
01:47It has plenty of businesses in this area.
01:49And sometimes we wouldn't even see a police vehicle for the day.
01:53So I think that might be better when you know the station close by.
01:57If you look at the area that it is located, they have a lot of intersections where you might find,
02:02you know, bandits or robbers or whatever,
02:05finding an area that they could probably escape when police and pursuits.
02:10So there are many directions they could head.
02:12But having them there is, I believe, is a safety area for that.
02:16Speaking to TV6 at the Teruba Flyover site,
02:20President of the Greater San Fernando Area Chamber of Commerce, Kiran Singh, says,
02:24the business community welcomes any plan to increase security measures aimed at reducing crime.
02:31I think it's a positive move.
02:33Yes, we can't continue indefinitely.
02:35As it comes to an end, we believe that the police setting up at strategic locations with the army
02:42is a welcome sign for us, not only in San Fernando, but throughout the country.
02:47The criminals continue to evade the tactical moves of the police.
02:51And we believe the increased monitoring at strategic traffic locations and key points
02:57will address the criminal situation in a more serious way.
03:00He says despite being under a state of emergency, crime has continued.
03:05He says if this is a replacement for the Zones of Special Operations Bill, or Zoso,
03:10which failed to be passed in Parliament, and it helps to reduce crime,
03:15then, he says, it is more than welcomed.
03:17If one direction fails in their crime-fighting techniques,
03:24then they are welcome to choose other techniques.
03:26And if this technique can't work, then we fully support it.
