Some people are not happy that a dangerous driving charge against a senior police officer has been discontinued.

But, tonight, prosecutors are saying... based on the evidence, there just wasn't a good chance of the state winning the case.

00:00After she was charged with dangerous driving last year, on Tuesday Deputy
00:06Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin learned that charge against her has been
00:11dropped. It was the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions that
00:16decided to discontinue the charge.
00:31The country's top prosecutor now providing an explanation for why the
00:36matter was dismissed. Martin was charged after she allegedly struck a 14 year old
00:50boy while driving along the priority bus route in San Juan in April last year. The
00:55boy was crossing the road when he was struck. He reportedly suffered fractures
01:00to his feet. Gaspard says in this matter, it would have been unfair to allow the
01:05matter to continue.
