An early morning car crash claimed the lives of two friends in Couva.

Police say the vehicle the men were travelling in crashed into a wall in Mc Bean Village. Mark Bassant has this report.

00:00The mangled wreckage of the vehicle in which Andy Gibbs and his friend Brendan
00:04Francois were trapped inside early this morning on the southern main road in
00:08Coover. Investigators say the Nissan Sepharo car driven by Gibbs was heading
00:13in a southerly direction along the road when it crashed into a concrete wall
00:17shortly before 3 a.m. in the vicinity of the Unipet gas station. Gibbs was still
00:22alive when this passerby captured video of the aftermath and he called out for
00:26assistance. Investigators told TV6 News that Andy Gibbs and Francois were
00:39both attached to allied security were later pronounced dead on the scene by
00:43the time an ambulance arrived in spite of the efforts of the fire officers who
00:48were subsequently able to get the men out of the vehicle. Police say they are
00:52unable to tell at this time what may have caused the accident however they
00:56noted that there were no skid marks on the road. Gibbs who lived Claxton Bay was
01:02on his way to drop off Francois to his Longdonville home. In a post in the
01:06Estate Police Association's Facebook page tribute was paid to both men who
01:10were members of the association. The post said open quote Mr. Gibbs was a former
01:16chairman of the EPA's security branch board and will be remembered for his
01:20dedication and the leadership close quote while Francois was described open
01:24quote as an active participant in the EPA's sporting activities and admired
01:30for his enthusiasm and a commitment close quote. Corporal Charles of the
