00:00New Wave has long advanced from the one small office, 12 cars and one employee
00:05it had, when it started in business around a decade ago, to 200 cars and
00:10approximately 50 employees. The launch of the 28,000 square feet Elsie Crow
00:15Service Center means New Wave now has three branches. The other two are
00:20located in Port of Spain and Pitibourg. Managing Director of New Wave Michael
00:25Seeley says the new service center represents a journey of growth and
00:29innovation. According to Seeley, they have invested heavily in artificial
00:33intelligence to give customers what he refers to as a state-of-the-art facility.
00:38It is truly a one-stop shop, offering a comprehensive suite of services
00:45including tires and alignment, suspension services, auto air condition,
00:52auto electrical, cleaning and detailing and most notably fleet management
00:58solutions. Customers can expect innovative diagnostic tools for faster
01:04more accurate service, convenient digital solutions, from easy booking to real-time
01:11updates. New Wave is now also the local distributors of the Enerjet battery, a
01:161986 brand from Peru, as the two have formed a partnership. According to
01:22General Manager of Enerjet, Marianela Cabanillas, Enerjet, which is said to
01:27dominate the Peruvian market since 2023, is in eight South American and Caribbean
01:33countries and they are optimistic that a collaboration will be mutually
01:37beneficial. Among its specs, Enerjet features a digital battery check and
01:42Cabanillas highlights another aspect the battery was designed to meet.
01:46We have special roads in Peru, so quality must be one of our most important
01:53characteristics for the products. But New Wave has another exciting announcement
01:58stemming from a trade mission to Ghana. It took part in with Minister of Trade
02:03and Industry Paul Agopiskun earlier this year. In consultation with my Peru
02:08partners, we have done our due diligence and are in the process of
02:14establishing the first battery assembly plant in Ghana. We are also in talks to
02:20introduce our franchise model, New Wave Auto Express, firstly to St. Lucia and
02:28then to St. Vincent in the first instance. Agopiskun notes that New Wave
02:32was part of the scale up TT program in 2023. She believes that since then it
02:38has moved from a small business to a medium sized business. They have what it
02:43takes to scale up and to really become a large business. And I can see them
02:49entering not just Ghana but other areas as well. And I could see this
02:53replicated in the in the within the region. I can almost see this being a
03:01franchise perhaps. New Wave has been in talks with United Kingdom based
03:05Institute of Moto Industry. The managing director reveals that by the first
03:10quarter of 2025, New Wave should mark another milestone. This facility will be
03:16the first certified IMI facility for the maintenance and service of hybrid and
03:24electric vehicles. The vision is to provide further training and
03:27certification to automotive technicians in the industry when that
03:31occurs. Alicia Boucher, TV6 News.
