00:00Naima Khalid, the widow of former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, has urged the Attorney
00:06General and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission not to discontinue the ongoing prosecution
00:11against Daim at the Sessions Court.
00:15Naima said it was Daim's wish that the trial on his alleged failure to disclose assets
00:19reach its conclusion.
00:21In a statement, she said there was no need for the AG or MACC chief to review, discontinue
00:27or withdraw the prosecution against Daim.
00:31She also accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of using Daim's death as an opportunity
00:35to avoid accountability for repeated public slander against the former Finance Minister.
00:40Daim, who died last Wednesday, was facing charges related to asset disclosure in what
00:45Naima described as a frivolous, malicious and politically motivated action.
00:51Earlier this year, both of them claimed trial in court to charges of failing to comply with
00:55the terms of a notice from MACC on asset declaration.
01:00Daim was accused of failing to declare his ownership in 38 companies, 19 plots of land
01:04in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Kedah and Kuala Lumpur, as well as six properties.
