00:00Naima Khalid, the widow of former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, will challenge the
00:06court order obtained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to freeze 758 million ringgit worth
00:11of assets abroad linked to her and her family. Naima claimed that the assets were lawfully
00:17acquired and that her lawyers would immediately move to set aside the freezing order, which was
00:21granted ex parte. She argued that no reasonable person would say the order was in accordance with
00:27fairness or the rules of natural justice, accusing MACC of obtaining it by ambush.
00:33The Kuala Lumpur High Court reportedly granted MACC's application to freeze 132 million pounds
00:39worth of assets in London belonging to Naima and her family. The assets include two commercial
00:44buildings, five luxury residences, and one bank account, Utusan Malaysia reported. Naima alleged
00:51that the move was part of a long and continuous smear campaign against her family by Prime Minister
00:55Anwar Ibrahim and MACC Chief Commissioner Azan Baki since late 2022.
