00:00Naima Khalid, the widow of former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, has slammed the Malaysian
00:07Anti-Corruption Commission and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for continuing investigations
00:11into her husband's finances, despite his acquittal by the courts.
00:16Naima expressed her frustration over MACC's recent statement that investigations into
00:20Daim's finances and assets remain ongoing, including a probe into a money trail overseas.
00:27In a statement today, she questioned if the government was not respecting the decision
00:30of the courts, adding that in order to probe a money trail, there must be an offence of
00:34corruption committed first.
00:37She said if there is no offence, then assets, whether held in Malaysia or elsewhere, are
00:41lawful and the result of hard work.
00:44Naima, whose husband died on November 13, also took aim at Anwar, who she said has repeatedly
00:50accused Daim of stealing billions without providing any concrete evidence of wrongdoing,
00:55describing the accusations as cowardly.
00:58In January, Daim claimed trial to a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an
01:02asset declaration notice issued by MACC.
01:05However, after his death, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court cleared Daim of all charges,
01:10with prosecutors saying they will proceed with the case against Naima, who also faces
01:14an asset declaration charge.
