00:27Quoting sources, Bloomberg had reported that Azam told MACC officials that instructions
00:32to investigate Mahathir and his sons, as well as Daim, a former finance minister, had come
00:37from Anwar himself.
00:39Azam's office also denied the Bloomberg report, saying that MACC operates independently
00:46and can investigate corruption without needing permission from anyone, including the Prime
00:50Minister.
00:51Mahathir's sons, Mirza and Moghzani, previously said they were not under investigation but
00:57were required to declare their assets due to their father's suspected actions.
01:02Earlier this year, Daim was charged under the MACC Act 2009 for failing to declare his
01:07ownership of numerous companies, properties and luxury vehicles.
