00:00Public transportation is the artery of any global city, and for 20 years,
00:04Rapid KL has been at the heart of Kuala Lumpur's transformation.
00:08From integrating major stations to expanding crucial LRT and MRT lines,
00:13they've reshaped how the city moves.
00:15When we look back about what has been done and achieved, it's been significant.
00:19We have seen a tremendous improvement in terms of availability and services in ridership,
00:25but making sure as well that Kuala Lumpur is able then to reach its potential as a global city,
00:30and the role of public transport is absolutely important.
00:32Despite facing challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and the Kelana Jaya line collision in
00:372021, Rapid KL has emerged stronger, enhancing reliability and regaining public confidence.
00:452022 was a difficult year. We had more than 200 cases or about 50
00:50in the year for each line. We have managed to reduce it to about 20 to 30 in 2023,
00:55but this year we want to reduce it to 15 to 20 at the most.
00:59Rapid KL's commitment to improvement extends to its nearly 300 bus routes across the Klang Valley.
01:05Dedicated lanes have boosted ridership by up to 42%, and future plans are even more ambitious.
01:12Prasarana is driving sustainability with a goal to fully electrify its bus fleet by 2037,
01:18reducing emissions and promoting a greener Kuala Lumpur.
01:22Future plans also include integrating smart technologies and an open payment
01:26system to enhance user experience. The introduction of demand-responsive
01:31transit will further bridge first- and last-mile connectivity,
01:34supported by the addition of 300 new vans.
01:37Ultimately, we serve the rider, and that's all seen from the ridership,
01:41which has now reached pre-COVID, and we expect to go higher this year.
01:44We are reaching 1.2 million passengers a day. This is very satisfying because it
01:48serves the nation of the people of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur particularly.
