00:00Making a tunnel is okay for me, it will be beneficial in the future because the number of residents in PJ is increasing.

00:11City dwellers are enthusiastic about the Potalingjaya City Council's proposal to build a smart tunnel here,

00:19saying it would ease traffic gridlock and improve stormwater management in the city.

00:25Nurit Iwani Mardia, 25, who lives in Section 19, said the smart tunnel would be a good addition to the city's infrastructure

00:33given the traffic she experiences on her daily commute to work.

00:39Fauzi Hassan, another Section 19 resident, said there was no reason for citizens to protest the project given the tunnel's dual benefits.

00:49It's a good thing. If people don't understand the concept of smart, they protest all kinds of things.

00:59If they understand, they know, if they don't protest, they will agree.

01:05However, Samrul Haire, a resident staying in Section 51, called the project a waste of the people's money,

01:12saying there was no need for a smart tunnel in this city.

01:17We didn't even hear that the areas they wanted to build the tunnel were affected by floodwaters.

01:25So, I think the distance is about two kilometers, and the cost of building it is several million.

01:37So, I think it's a waste of money.

01:41Instead, the 39-year-old said the government should focus on improving existing roads and drainage systems

01:48to effectively address traffic and flooding issues.
