00:00KLIA's new and improved aero-train service will start operating from 10 a.m. on July 1st,
00:08Transport Minister Lok Su-fuk said today. At a press conference, he said the trains have entered
00:13the final phase of testing, which will be completed soon. The aero-train service was
00:18suspended in March 2023 for maintenance and upgrading work after several breakdowns,
00:24and was expected to resume in the second quarter of this year.
00:28The service had been the backbone of KLIA's internal transport network since 1998.
00:34Lok said three trains, each with a maximum capacity of 270 passengers,
00:40will be in operation between KLIA Terminal 1 and the satellite terminal,
00:44which is mainly used for international arrivals and departures.
00:49Two trains will be in operation throughout the day, but only one train will be in service between
00:54midnight and 5 a.m. He said the bus services, launched after the breakdown of the aero-train
00:59service in 2023, would continue until further notice.
