Parents of children attending the Shining Light Day Care and Pre-School embraced the school's Walk against Crime.
And so... with their little ones in hand... they marched from the school's compound at Mendez Drive, Champ Fleurs to the St. Joseph Play Park
Transcript
00:00According to the preschool, the walk signals a stance against what it calls the out-of-control
00:28crime situation in the country, which has seen gun violence in close proximity to the
00:33schools and even children being slain.
00:36Principal Carrie Ann Bernard-Julian says it's an idea she had since the beginning of the
00:41year and when she pitched it to parents this term, they were fully on board.
00:46According to her, the preschoolers ages 4 and 5 have a measure of awareness as to what
00:52is happening in terms of crime, especially robberies and murders.
00:57She believes the support by parents who join in the anti-crime walk was great.
01:02Our purpose of this anti-crime walk is to let the public know that crime is not only
01:07affecting adults but it's also affecting our younger generation.
01:12We hope that communities, other schools, religious groups and organizations will soon join in
01:19and let the public know that crime is affecting us.
