Two pupils are recovering after falling ill at school, and having to be treated at hospital.

It happened at Maloney Government Primary School, on Monday.

The children reportedly began feeling unwell after eating chewing gum from a classmate.

The Education Minister says the two children are now fine.

00:00Good afternoon parents. This is Miss Robertson Thomas, Principal of Maloney Government Primary.
00:06A voice note has been making the rounds on social media.
00:10It's about an incident at Maloney Government Primary School.
00:14The person speaking in the voice note says a child brought chewing gum to school
00:19and was either selling or sharing it with other pupils.
00:23We were not made aware until after lunchtime when two of the children who consumed the gum
00:30indicated that they were feeling unwell.
00:33The authorities were notified and according to the person in the voice note
00:38the police and the parents of the children who said they received the same chewing gum were also notified.
00:45We could not determine what it was but the gum was in fact smelling very putrid when it was brought to us.
00:52The person in the voice note says the police took away the jar of chewing gum.
00:56Education Minister Dr. Nian Gadzbedeli told TV6 the incident happened on Monday.
01:03She confirms children ate chewing gum from a classmate, fell ill and an ambulance took them to hospital.
01:11The minister says the children are now fine and they were at school on Tuesday.
01:16She says blood tests were done and no drugs were detected.
