00:00Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Bissassan today instructed that the sole survivor of the Paria Divers tragedy, Christopher Budram,
00:07and families of some who died will be paid an ex-gratia payment of $1 million by the state.
00:14This was announced by Energy Minister Dr. Rudal Munilal.
00:18He said two families who are pursuing litigation in the matter will not receive the payout at this time.
00:24Today, a few moments ago, the Prime Minister rectified a public wrong.
00:30The Prime Minister led our government and on behalf of our government presented ex-gratia payments of $1 million to Mr. Christopher Budram,
00:42a payment of $1 million to Ms. Vanessa Coussey, the widow of the late Mr. Rishi Nagasa.
00:49A similar payment was also being made to the family of Mr. Faisal Kurban.
00:55Those payments have been made because there is no legal impediment to so doing.
