00:02Health Minister Dr. Lachram Bodo has paid a visit to the North Central Regional Health Authority
00:07amid reports of shortages including medical supplies.
00:11Dr. Bodo told the House of Representatives what he discovered.
00:16Firstly, I wish to assure the population that there is no shortage of critical medical supplies
00:22at the North Central Regional Health Authority.
00:25Indeed, Mr. Speaker, during a visit to the Cardiac Caracterization Laboratory
00:31at the Eric William Medical Sciences Complex this morning by myself, the Minister in the Ministry,
00:38and a team from the Ministry, I was given the assurance by the Chairman of the NCRHA,
00:43the CEO, and other members of senior management that there was no shortage of syringes, needles,
00:49or any other supplies highlighted in certain media reports.
00:52However, what the Chairman indicated, Honourable Member,
00:57is that he met a debt of over $350 million left by the previous government,
01:04owed to some 521 suppliers, Mr. Speaker.
01:08This government has since been able to reduce that debt to closer to $150 million
01:14by its diligent financial management and fiscal prudence.
