00:11waste to be deposited in brown bins. It follows the introduction of glass recycling using household

00:17green bins which began on the 1st of August. A consultation will be launched on the proposal

00:22which could see around 70,000 more Leeds households become eligible for a brown bin.

00:27Councillor Mohamed Rafique said the city is already meeting its requirements to recycle

00:31metals, plastic, paper and glass, leaving food waste as the last remaining waste stream to

00:36collect and recycle. Opposition councillors have called for a cross-party working group

00:41to tackle missed bin collections, saying they have received many complaints from

00:45householders. Labour say more than 10.5 million household bins have been emptied so far this year

00:51and there's been a 30% increase in green bin content. The council is awaiting details from

00:56the government on future funding for food waste collection.
