A number of changes will be made relating to vehicular traffic and parking to faciliate Independence Day celebrations.


They will be mostly in the Capital City, but there is a change as well relating to the Priority Bus Route. We have the details.

00:00Firstly, provisions have been made to facilitate Panhandi Avenue on August 31st.
00:05As such, traffic restrictions are in place from the Commission of Police,
00:09which will be enforced from 4 p.m. on Saturday to 2 a.m. on Sunday.
00:13As such, parking is prohibited between Ariapeta Avenue and Rison Road along Anna, French and Carlos Streets.
00:20These parking restrictions also apply to Colville Street between the Avenue and Tragrate Road,
00:26the Maraval Parkway, Taylor Street between Warren Street and Ariapeta Avenue,
00:31Warren Street between Bellsmite and Rosalino Streets,
00:35Robert Street between Rosalino and Colville Streets,
00:38Hamilton Holder Street, O'Connor Street and Bellsmite Street.
00:43However, vehicles transporting steel bands are permitted to utilize the Maraval Parkway
00:48and Ariapeta Avenue between O'Connor and Colville Streets.
00:52There will be a number of streets where two-way traffic will be allowed in Woodbrook on the following streets.
00:58O'Connor, David Isle, Petra, Gallus, Alberto, Rosalino, Lewis, Alfredo, Carlos, Moray, Fitt, Cornelio and Gattaca Streets.
01:08This also includes Taylor Street between Warren Street and Ariapeta Avenue.
01:13Commissioner of Police Ilohewood Christopher says drivers in breach of these restrictions
01:18have their vehicles removed and impounded in keeping with Section 108.1b of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
01:26Meanwhile, the Ministry of Works and Transport says light motor vehicles will be granted access
01:32to use the priority bus route on Independence Day only from the hours of 3 p.m. to 12 midnight.
