Gayana Amazon Warriors were runners-up to Barbados Royals in last year's Womens CPL.
00:05
This time, they are hoping to cross the finish line, which off-spinner Karishma Ramharak
00:09
believes is very much possible.

KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
00:11
Yes, obviously, that's the end goal. And we are always looking to win. So, I do believe
00:16
that, as long as we play good cricket, I think we can get there.
00:20
In 2023, Ramharak picked up six wickets from five matches, with a reasonable economy rate
00:25
of 7.23 runs and over. The 29-year-old continues to train assiduously, with the hope of shining
00:32
in the 2024 edition.
00:33
KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
00:34
Yes, of course. This is a game of learning every day. And you can never learn enough.
00:35
So, yes, I'm working on a couple of things that, hopefully, I can bring out in the tournament.
00:36
And it should be able to work.
00:37
Unlike the inaugural tournament, the second and third editions of the WCPL are similar
00:52
because of more matches for the teams. And Ramharak is indeed grateful for such opportunities.
00:57
KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
00:58
Yes, of course. It's something, as I mentioned before, that we've been looking for for a
01:02
really long time to actually see it come to power. Right now, it's amazing to know that
01:07
so many girls are involved. And the quality of players that keeps coming in the tournament
01:12
just gets better and better every year. So, of course, for us, it's a massive thing. And
01:19
I'm just looking forward to enjoying every moment of it.
01:21
Among 26 ODIs for the West Indies, Ramharak has 22 wickets, while in the abridged version,
01:28
she has made 32 appearances with 25 wickets to her name.
01:32
With the T20 World Cup later this year in Bangladesh, has she set herself any goals
01:37
for the upcoming WCPL?
01:38
KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
01:39
Nothing personal as yet, but I know that it's a World Cup year, and I'm looking forward
01:43
to, you know, obviously, performing in CPL and giving myself a good shot at getting in
01:47
the World Cup.
01:48
The TNT-born cricketer has a decent economy rate of 6.58 for the West Indies in T20 matches.
01:54
But there is something more she wants to achieve at the international level.
01:57
KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
01:58
You know, taking a bit more wickets for the team. Taking wickets as a bowler is obviously
02:03
always welcomed, and being a bit more economical going forward. You know, and with the bat,
02:08
just give the team whatever they need whenever it's required.
02:12
What do you make of West Indies going to the World Cup? How good a chance do you think
02:15
the ladies in maroon have?
02:16
KARISHMA RAMHARAK, Womens CPL Player
02:17
I mean, it's obviously a work in progress. I do think that once the team gets it right,
02:21
we are definitely able to beat any team in the world. And I feel like we're in the right
02:26
space right now to get there. So, I'm looking forward to a year where we can, you know,
02:31
try to dominate cricket a little more.
02:33
With many women's T20 leagues taking place around the world, Ramharak is willing to showcase
02:38
her talent in franchise cricket once an opportunity comes up.
