00:00And there's some CPL stuff now, you guys have won two from two, how good do you think your chances are of winning the tournament?
00:07Yeah, well I think we've been playing really well for the first half of the comp.
00:11There's obviously still two more games to go and the board is getting a bit closer after the game last night.
00:17But yeah, I think we've been in pretty good stead.
00:20I think the way that we won the last game and how comfortable it was, it definitely helps with the confidence within the group.
00:27And I just think when we look at our line-up, we have a really good overall team.
00:31The internationals that we have in fill in the gaps really well.
00:36We have so many options with the bowling, which makes my life a lot easier.
00:40But at the same time, we have batting that goes right down to 9 or 10 as well.
00:43So I think when we do look at the balance, we're in pretty good stead.
00:47But at the same time, T20 cricket is a game that's played on the day and anyone can win it.
00:51So we'll still have to come and play our A game every single time.
00:56So Hailey, they say in tournaments you have to have that one loss before the number one game.
01:01Any sort of thoughts on that? Perhaps is it coming or news for the final?
01:08That could be the day that it happens.
01:10I'm not thinking about that. I feel as though a game of cricket, every time you come to the ground or you step out of the crease,
01:17you've got to start fresh every single time.
01:19And I don't feel as though the game before or the game after ever matters.
01:23It's about what you're doing right there and then in the moment.
01:26So hopefully we can get through the group stage without bearing a defeat.
01:32And hopefully we're able to break that chain of people saying that you need to have a loss first as well.
01:38Of course, you've been consistent. You've been at the forefront for the Barbados Royals this year so far.
01:44Aspirations for play every tournament?
01:48I mean, I guess looking at the numbers, you would say that I'm up for the running.
01:52But I try not to think about those things when I am playing.
01:54I feel as though if I go out there and I perform and I do what I'm supposed to do,
01:59like I said earlier, all the accolades and the rewards from it are going to come naturally.
02:03So at the moment, I just focused on going out there and doing as well as I can and hopefully leading from the front.
02:09And yeah, if I manage to get some runs and score some wickets in the process of that,
02:14and happen to get the MVP, then so be it.
02:17But definitely not saying that that's what I'm aiming for.
02:20At the moment, I'm just trying to win some cricket games and perform really well.
02:24And what did it mean to you as a Bajan girl representing Barbados Royals to win back-to-back WCPL titles?
02:29Yeah, it means everything. I think last year was definitely very special.
02:33The fact that we got to play at home before coming down to Trinidad.
02:37We saw the support and I think one thing that I definitely noticed was the amount of young girls within the crowd in Barbados.
02:43So like I have mentioned, the opportunity to be able to go out there and inspire is obviously huge for us.
02:50And I think being able to win back-to-back titles will inspire a lot of girls back home.
02:54So it would definitely mean a lot.
02:57But not only to Barbados, I think too.
02:59There's so many girls that just look up to us and look up to the team from all around the Caribbean and all around the world.
03:04And I think people underestimate the impact that you can have by winning a tournament,
03:10but you can impact so many persons by doing it as well.
03:13And just going back to you, who were your idols growing up?
03:16Who got you looking at cricket, loving cricket, players on the field?
03:20I'm not going to lie. When I was a young girl, I was a massive Australia fan.
03:25So I was actually a huge fan of Ricky Ponting growing up.
03:29There was obviously women's cricket being played at the time, but it wasn't as big as it is now.
03:35So I think when I was 7, 8, 9, really watching cricket, I was a huge, huge fan of Ricky Ponting coming up.
03:42And just lastly, what would you say to the little girl who wants to play cricket, who sees this as a career for herself in the future?
03:50What would you say to her?
03:52Yeah, just go out and go for your dreams.
03:54I certainly never thought that when I was 7 or 8 that I would be in the position that I'm in now,
04:02going all around the world, playing cricket, making a good living for myself, all while enjoying it and having fun.
04:09So there's definitely an opportunity to go out there and just chase after your dreams.
04:14You know, sometimes going after the sport may seem very far-fetched, but if you love the game and if you want to play,
04:21there's so many opportunities out there once you put in the hard work and go for it.
04:25Thanks so much, Aidy.
