00:08Judge, according to sources in The Know.
00:10He may later be appointed as Chief Judge of Malaya, the third-highest post in the judicial
00:15hierarchy.
00:16A source said Teriuddin's name was submitted by the Prime Minister's Office for endorsement
00:21by the Conference of Rulers at its meeting next week.
00:24Another possibility is for the 56-year-old to be appointed as a judge of the Apex Court,
00:29while the CJM's post is left vacant for now.
00:32The source said the reason for such a move is unclear, however the possibility of it
00:36happening is remote.
00:38The CJM post has been vacant since the mandatory retirement of Zabidin Diyar on February 29.
00:44Currently, Court of Appeal President Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim performs his duties
00:48and functions on an interim basis.
00:51Lawyer side Iskandar side Jaffa said it was common in Commonwealth countries for the AG
00:55to be appointed to a top position in the judiciary.
00:59However, he said parachuting Teriuddin straight into the Apex Court without going through
01:03the Judicial Appointments Commission would be a cause for concern.
