00:00On April 28, 2025, the administration took office following a decisive election victory.
00:08Former MP for Tabakit and former Foreign Affairs and Communications Minister Dr. Suruj Rattan Rambachan says effective governance requires leaders
00:19to keep their ears on the ground.
00:21He warns that citizens are expressing concern and are seeking clearer direction on the government's long-term agenda.
00:30People are not very happy with the situation.
00:36There's a lot of anxiety, and the anxiety is stemming from the fact that people want a clearer direction as
00:43to where they think we are going to be in two years, three years, or what have you.
00:47He adds that while the administration is performing well in managing the economy, questions remain around the National Revitalization Plan
00:56and agriculture.
00:57Where I'm concerned about, Marlon, is in terms of our security with respect to food security and also the expansion
01:10of the economy into other areas.
01:12I do feel that what was presented as a revitalization plan, and I read that there were about 1,000
01:19interests being expressed already.
01:21Dr. Rambachan also addresses public concern regarding the Prime Minister's close relationship with the United States, noting the importance of
01:31maintaining balance in foreign policy positioning.
01:34Some people, I think she has put all her eggs in one basket in terms of her relationship with the
01:39U.S.
01:39I don't really think so. We have always had good relationships with the United States.
01:43I think what she's doing is cementing that in terms of the geopolitics and how she sees it.
01:49He is further urging the Public Utilities Minister to take a closer look at some of the operations at the
01:55Water and Sewage Authority.
01:57When they fix a leak, now you dig up the whole ground, right?
02:00But if you do not stabilize the ground before you put back down the pipe, once the heavy trucks run
02:07and that is going to break again.
02:08So, you know, there are some things that are going on there that I think Mr. Padarat has to look
02:13very carefully at his technical staff and so on.
