00:00Former Federal Court Judge Edgar Joseph Jr. has died at 90 years old.

00:09Court of Appeal Judge Lim Chong Fong said,

00:12Edgar died of old age at his residence in Bukit Tunku early Friday morning.

00:17The late Chan Chung Tak, former Dewanegara President,

00:21had described Edgar as an orator and a top student in the English language and English literature.

00:28Edgar was made a Penang High Court Judge in 1982

00:32and was later elevated to the Supreme Court, eventually renamed the Federal Court.

00:37Former Deputy Public Prosecutor Shaikh Daud Ismail said,

00:41Edgar was always thorough in his work and presented high-quality submissions

00:46to persuade trial judges to decide in favour of his clients.

00:50Lawyer Cyrus Das said he was one of the finest legal eagles in the Apex Court at that time.

00:57Similarly, lawyer Bastien Pius Vendagan said,

01:00Edgar was one of the greatest legal minds the nation has seen.

01:04It was a pleasure to appear before him in the High Court and Apex Court, Vendagan said.
